This is my friends 46k mile 00 SVT. These hood scoops are from a grand prix. They are fully functional. Im thinking about doing one on my SVT but only on the driver side. What do you guys think?

And are you really going to do it or not do it based on others opinions?
 
I have been debating a hood vent for some time now. I just havent found the style I like. Im going to do it anyways but Im fearing that I will have to spend a goo gob amount of money in order to get the right look.
 
Can you get a picture from a little further back so we can see the lines of the car with those on there? Picky I know, but I think it will help

I've been looking into doing hood vents on our cars for quite sometime now. However I haven't found something that will really work well. Problem is our hoods have a nice contour to them so it makes flush mounting and kind of vent/louver difficult to say the least. I actually have a set of those Grand Prix louvers that I plan to install on the custom hood I made for my Camaro, but that will be easy as I have a flat surface to work with.

As far as the Contour goes... the best hood louver I have been able to find that would work (I think) is the Cosworth Sierra hood louvers. They have the same style look as the Grand Prix louvers do, but they are much shorter in length and I believe could be made to mount nicely on our hoods. However they are expensive as the true Cosworth louvers are aluminum and out of production. That said I have found some UK and Australian companies that make fiberglass replicas for around $50-70 shipped to the US. Still a pretty penny considering I bought the grand prix louvers for $30. However the $50-70 beats the ~$229 for the replica aluminum version. Here's a picture of the louvers I'm referring too...

EDIT: just FYI there are water catchers that came factory with the grand prix louvers that bolt into the bottom of them. However they are discontinued from GM and are fairly tough to find... but definitely would look better then that glued on box that's shown in the pictures you posted.

It is a custom tray that he made to let the water run into the front by the headlight area.

Sounds good man we might be talking to find some way to make it look decent on a contour. I know its very tough because the hood has a natural flow that already looks great. Im not sure I like those louvers either. I am very very very picky especially if it comes to my turbo car.

Well first off the reality is that you wouldn't be able to place them much further down because of the contour in the hood. Secondly what don't you understand about 'quick photoshop' do you really think I was caring where I placed them on the hood I think I had all but 5min in making the thing (BTW I made this about 1yr ago when the CF hood GP was going on). :nonono:
