so i have a 2000 CSVT it's all stock, but have an open air filter just because i love the sound lol, it just rolled over a 100K today and i was pulling on the highway and gunned it for a little bit of fun, and usually at around 3700, Im not sure what it is called, but the sound of the engine changes and the RPMs seem to jump, well anyway it didnt do this... and after about 4500 it seemed like it was gonna blow up.. the engine didnt sound as loud.. it sounded like it was really restricted, i went through cleaned my intake and throttle body but it still doesnt "jump" at 3700... does this make sense? i hope i can get some help? im really stumped.. thanks guys

Any CELs?

You're refering to the secondaries....they're probably stuck open. Look into that and IMRC in the search tool. Don't rule out a fouled plug, too. If the plugs are original at that mileage, might want to change them out, along witht the wires.

no there are no CELs.. but with the secondaries stuck open wouldnt i still have the same power in higher rmps? i am losing power in higher rpms

Almost beyond a doubt this is caused by your secondaries failing to open (not stuck open as the previous post says). They could be stuck, the IMRC could have failed, the linkage could have fallen off due to a broken grommet, etc. There are truly countless threads here on this issue so just put the search feature to work.

i also did some searching and saw the IMRC in the first page under the Common problems.. so i will diagnose those and see if i can figure that out

I would check your linkage first (the little silver rod under your throttle body). When I drove my stock SVT around for a short time without secondaries, I don't think that it would even make it to 4500 RPM under load.

well my car can make it up in the high RPMs but it just sounds really restricted.. i cant figure it out.. i checked my intake again and the second wire that runs up to the trottle body is lose but its still connected.. but now since i cleaned my butterflies and filter and stuff i can hear it when the secondaries kick in but it still doesnt sound normal.. im really lost i need some suggestions
