oil pressure gauge help

What exactly are you trying to do?

If your doing an oil pressure gauge, then the fittings all come with it. You have to buy a reucer fitting to plug it into the the plug behind the A/C compressor for an accurate reading, or have a delayed or "off" reading by installing it in the head.

i bought the oil pressure gauge used from goonz. the only thing it came with is the sender. so any help with where and how to install would be great. it is a electric sender.what is this reucer fitting?? and where u get this????

Ok, for my gauge (mechanical) The unit that got plugged into the block was too small to fit into the plug i removed off the block. So I had to get a reducer to thread into the block, then I threaded the "sending unit" part into the reducer. Ran my line from there up to the gauge and good to go.

Where did you get your reducer.Summit?..Jegs??.Or local hardware store?.

There are two holes in the side of the block just forward of the oil filter. One hole is already in use for the oil pressure switch. The other hole will have a pipe plug in it. (Some of the Jaguars and Lincolns use this hole for an oil temperature sensor) Both holes have 3/8"-18 pipe threads. You may need a reducer to adapt the size of the threads in the block to whatever size your remote sensor is. (likely 1/4" pipe thread) These reducers are common. Just bring your remote sensor to the local Home Depot or equivalent and have them help you.

BTW, leave your stock sensor in the other hole so that the oil pressure light in the instrument cluster turns off.

Exactly. I got my reducer from a local hardware store for like...$1-2.

I'm guessing that you hook the electric gauges into the stock sending unit somehow?

I have my water temp gauge hooked into my stock sending unit..Works great.I was also hoping this could be done with the stock oil pressure sending unit.Havent yet tryed.Anybody try to yet and if so did it work?.

this is the back of my autometer electric oil pressure gauge.

BTW the autometer website has some installation info, but nothing that helped me.

That is most likely not going to fit, if it could, it would be very, very tight. I'd suggest a 90* and have it mounted just above the A/C Compressor.

procyon is spot on: if you want to get fancy what i did is removed the stock sending switch and placed a NPT to flare fitting and made a hose to bring up to around the windshield washer filler neck. then i used a T fitting and placed both the stock sending switch and new guage sending unit into the T at the end of the hose and it worked great. also you have access to both and there is only one fitting in your block to reduce the chance of any leaks.

is it possible to tap into the stock oil pressure sender if you have an electrical oil pressure gauge??

no the stock sender is only a switch. it reads on or off unlike an actual sending unit that varrise in its readings.
