I'd recommend replacing the axle seal at the same time.
so thats why mine were really cheap. they were 35bucks each from Meyers auto parts.
well you need a 32mm socket for the axle nut, so I wouldn't call that basic tools ...
you will need a slide hammer to get the drivers axle out of the tranmission.
I'd recommend replacing the axle seal at the same time.
why buy a reman and pay a core or give them the old one when retail from your store is only 70 bucks:shrug: I know you get a discount working there so get a brand new one.I just broke my drivers side axel too.. About 2 hours ago:blackeye:...
I work at advance auto and we cannot get a reman for it at all.... guess they are rarely salvagable:shrug:

the reman's are the same price though so it is in no way worth buying.I wasnt saying that i needed a reman, just throwing it out there...
But if both the new axle and reman have a lifetime warranty, and the reman might be considerably cheaper.. why not buy the reman:shrug:

Lifetime warranty doesn't mean squat when you have to go through the trouble of replacing something twice. I would personally buy a new one. Similar to why most people would rather buy Motorcraft alternators, then some cheap reman with a "lifetime warranty".
elraidoooo did you get it fixed yet?
I could replace a CV shaft in under an hour - I did the knuckle in 90 minutes. My passenger side, which has junkyard paint on it, is vibrating like mad - so I'll be ordering up a new CV from Checker and using my 25% off coupon as well
Damn your discounts!!!
2ksvt had the same prob, i found out the axle snapped inside the boot and threw a new one in it for 40 bux, no prob since then, 36 mil socket would be the only specialty type tool you would need and 17 15 mil sockets
That is the same place it seems to have snapped here Is that the "weak link" for these axles?
