I was just wondering what you thought of the new Michigan license plates.

New Spectacular Peninsulas Plate

I think the old standard one looks better then the new one, but I think the Spectacular Peninsulas plate looks better than the Great Lakes Splendor one.

There's no question that Michigan is flush with geography of the peninsular variety, but the phrase "Spectacular Peninsulas" has an odd ring to it, much in the same way that a sign reading "Great Spleens" would seem odd in a internist's office.

That said, I'm pretty partial to the old blue and white -- I'm not even from Michigan -- I have to envy your old plates from afar. I also rather liked the sunset plate -- is that the "Great Lakes Splendor" one?

The old Hoosier plate from like 10 years ago -- the "Amber Waves of Grain Plate," with its black, yellow and red colors was one of the coolest newer plates I'd seen, but its been replaced.

I have the new plate on the 98 and i think there pretty nice.I just saw on the news in PA i think that there going to have a liscene plate for sex offenders thats all green so they will be easily pointed out

That’s an interesting idea. I wonder how it will work.

does anybody know why they are making the origional blue and white plates illegal?

I can swear I already told you this in another thread!....It's because law enforcement had a hard time seeing them at night.

sorry, must have missed it.

I guess that makes sense, they didnt have the reflective qualities that the new plates do.

In ohio they already have plates for convicted drunk drivers, the plate is yellow with red letters. This give the police the right to pull you over and give you a hassel for no reason.

sounds like a great idea.

T3h drink + t3h drive = t3h lame.

So few choices.
This is what we have to choose from in FL...

I only posted here in East Great Lakes because I am originally from Detroit. My brother still lives there. I actually flew from FL to Detroit to buy #1890 from a guy in Battle Creek.
We (myself and my wife) come up there at least once a year, sometimes more, and would love to meet some CEG'ers from that area.
We will probably be up there next Thanksgiving weekend.
