My 86...

Atleast you don't need to do a clutch...right now! Please make sure its 100% safe Eric, its not like you've got any electronic nannies to help you out like we do, its just you and your raw talents!

My 86 let me down at the Dragon. Fuel issues led to a huge power loss; power I didn't have to begin with. So I'm back to the shed sorting it out. I think I boiled the brake fluid cuz the pedal got mushier throughout the day. Going to swap to stainless lines and ATE blue anyways.

This is how my Corolla said I love you Monday before the Dragon:

Of course I fixed it then; clutch master cylinder rear seal busted. No surprise since the slave cylinder boot would squirt fluid when you squeezed it, and the brake master cylinder was dry because all the fluid had leaked out the rear seal. This car was full of surprises when I was rebuilding it, and I guess I'm still finding them!

Going big block. Getting a 1.8 stroked bottom from a '97 corolla. Head is a blue top GTS twin cam, i'll do some porting, but stay with standard valves. Dual side draft 45mm carbs, might have to settle for 40's since they're more common. Also new clutch, mess of seals and gaskets. Bottom end built with lighter blue top pistons, maybe Belfab rods, ARP bottom bolts. 8k all day every day. A little machine work is needed to lighten and balance the crank and open the head. Stock blue top cams for the time being.

I always heard that you had to be over 2.2L in 4cylinders to be considered big block in 4 banger speak. Wheels, You know i don't care about wheels i'm all about function! lol.
but you are still building a heck o a motor there. When done you will just need some boost to keep up with me! :)

Camry already has a 2.2L 4 pot. Don't think I'll ever build a boosted motor; easier to just swap in either a BEAMS (210hp 2.0L 8krpm Toyota Altezza RS200 stock) or S2000 or SR20DET. Simple, cheap, easy is the name of the game for this motor. I can always throw in bigger cams, better internals, and go bigger with it, but it'll be mostly stock to get running sooner.

Anyways, boom goes the dynamite. I still need to polish 'em, and there are some water spots, but they turned out ok. Not really sure about the color; they're more golder?

Eric, say it isn't so, you bought wheels for your new 87' GTA?

J/K!!! You know I love those wheels in gold, nice job you did there!

Got an assload of parts today. All used, dirty, and in need of attention.

GTS blue top big port head
GTS rods (probably won't use)
GTS pistons
GTS bellhousing
HKS test pipe

So with new rings and bearings, I could technically build the motor using my 1.6 block and crank. But I'm still looking for a 1.8 to use instead.
