it had to happen one day....

What's worse is with my silver SVT it was hit regularly (had a pager alarm) but there was never any damage.

You sure that the vibration sensor wasn't just set to be overly sensitive to where a car driving by it or someone's exhaust would set it off? I set off alarms EVERY time I go to a mall or parking garage, etc. with my 3L.

Noooooooo!! One of my fav cars on the entire site too! I was in that exact position back in August with my Contour, from the outside it didnt look that bad and was sure to be an easy repair- hood, grille, headlights etc and the bumper looked fine..but once I got in behind everything was FUBAR'd, rammed against the motor and that was it..I would of spent more or basically what I did spend, to fix it rather than what I ended up doing, which was buy a new car...hope everything turns out good for you though man, best of luck with whatever route you take :)

well damit Wes, you aren't supposed to do that. Hope you get everything sorted out one way or another.

Nope, my car is parked in a corner and nobody drives by it to set it off.

There is a big difference between trivial damage and structural damage. Losing a headlight or bumper is very different from bending the chassis and the car never driving quite right again.

That's why I mentioned it. I was seperating the two remarks. If is trivial and they still write it, which is not the case here, then it really sucks, but if the structural damage has happened (which is this case) then its better to write it off due to the reasons you stated. I had a Probe written off because of a bumper.. lol

I hope your ins. company lets you buy it back, but most companies have contracts with Adesa and other auctions. IF they won't let you and send it to Adesa, let me know, I'm a dealer and can buy it back for you..

Mike

yeah put up a needed thread if they don't total it. if they do, i'll take the hood for cheap, damaged or not. ;) sad to see a sexy blacked out SVT go to waste like that :(

thanks for the kind words everyone. It feels like i may lose a member of my family LOL. As for getting into another tour I dont think I will. Time for something newer. But I know I will miss this car just as much as i miss my 95.........got no sleep last night and im sure tonight will be the same. :censored::censored::censored::censored: this sux so much. I wanted a second car. I planned on keeping this car till it rotted away.

Noooooo!!!!!

Wes buddy, Im really sorry to see this. I have a Green 98 SE Parts car right now, talk to Snob, hes saw it, the body and everything is pretty solid, its a US car. Dude you can have anything you want off of it for free, just gotta get it painted. I'll hook you up anyway I can, call me. Cheers.

Wes, I can't believe I'm seeing this; that was such a wicked 'tour. I have no words, I can't wait to see what you're going to do to your next ride. ....

Aaron, I'm feel bad that yours took a hit too, what the hell are you doing parking the 'tour outside? I thought you garaged that thing? That's it, I'm gonna steal your projectors tonight

Hope everything works out well!

Damn old people!!!! Karen (my wife) has had 1 front plate ripped right off her Sunfire, while parked at the local library. Some old fart (female) backed into it and continued onwards. The plate disappeared, apparently it became part of the car that ran into hers. She had to get new plates. Last weekend, someone backed into the front of her Escape (which we got just before Christmas), scraped the front bumper and bent the hell out the front plate on this one too.

What bad luck we have this season. :(

Yes we have all had some bad luck this winter it seems :( .So when will Karen be taking out the SRT and SVT:laugh:? Congrats on the new purchase, if I had known you were in the market I could have gotten you a great deal as one of my good friends is the Sales Manager at a Ford Dealership not too far from you :).

Aaron

Sorry to see this, man. Most importantly you came out of the accident safe.

As the older I get, the less attached I get towards my car. A.) It's just a vehicle B.) D'oh, it's a Ford Contour....yeah, not much more you can say to that one.

Hopefully you get it settled and either get her in working condition or a newer/better car.

Heh, never will any of my family members drive the SRT or SVT.

Aaron, I may be in the market for a different Ford vehicle, but not to replace the SRT or SVT. :)

PS: Wes, sorry for the thread hijack.

When the kids get more rebelious and daring you might want to consider locking the keys in a safe (you know the peer pressure of high school lol). If they do take the SRT or SVT I certainly hope they can run faster scared than you can mad:laugh:.

Let me know when you are ready for the vehicle :).
