Injector plug conversion set

Hey Y'all,

Now that the little issues have been resolved on my 3L, I'm planning to swap in a 65mm TB, 80mm MAF and 24# injectors.

I'm currently using my SVT (orange/return-style) injectors. I have the Escape 24# injectors available and I know the plugs are likely different. Can someone tell me if the Ford Racing conversion set will work?

With the above set, it looks like clearance may be an issue. What do you all think? I'm asking mainly because I have these locally available, for a good price.

BTW, I have a port-matched 3L with the nautilus LIM. Would the 24# Escape injectors be the "correct spray pattern" for my application?

Thanks.

you can just splice the new pigtails into your harness from the one that came with the taurus. I cant remember the colors and such, but one harness has all the injectors with the same two colors (red/black I think) and the other harness has one constant color and the second color changes.

there are pictures on here some place of when I did mine. I actually just used the "looks self explanatory" method of reasoning and got lucky...

I really need an 02 ford cd...

The wires are different colours for the stock 2.5 injectors vs the 21 lb 3.0 injectors.

I have the harness from a 3.0 however does anyone know what colours match up?

really? I'm going to say the spray pattern should be matched to the location of the injector in the lim, and the port style of the head.

this would make the wide spray 3.0 injectors correct for the the NPG lim.

if it was a bugzuki job, narrow ones would be right (injector is off to one side)

fyi, I feel the NPG lim is about as close to proper as any mix matched build like this could be...

short of welding and completely reporting 3.0 heads to be true split port...

ok this statement makes no sense.

when someone says port matched they normally are refering to a ported 3L where the ports are openned up to the size of the split port intake ports and the bugzuki plates are used.

if you are using the NPG LIM then nothing has been ported matched per say.

bottom line you need to use the correct injector for the port type you have.

split port gets the narrow spray angle injectors.

straight 3L since they are oval port need oval port injectors, or wide spray angle injectors.

since the NPG LIM places the injectors at the same location in an oval port as a striaght 3L I would have to say oval port injectors should be used here also.

I do know of a few people using plit port injectors on oval ports and they run fine.

Good catch. I saw "port-matched" and stopped reading. With the Nautilus LIM oval port injectors would be correct.

I'm learning so much from these threads. Makes me want to do a 3.0L for no good reason. My 2.5L is running too well though. If I ever did do it though I'd definitely do the NPG LIM just because I'd be too afraid to goober up a good head. I'm also guessing that with #24s you'd have to tune the computer or at least use a MAF sensor "calibrated" for 24s correct?

no such thing as a calibrated maf ... you need a tune to correct for the injectors/maf you are using.

I know you need to tune eventually, but yes there are such things as calibrated MAFs. I ran one for 3 years on my Cobra. Ran like a champ while the HCI was stock. Now that the cam is different it obviously needs a tune.

oh dear.... not again

we've pretty well driven this into the ground in a previous thread.

bottom line, if your worried about more than getting the groceries home, splice in the 24lb (actually 21lb-22lb their grey) injectors, and pay joey for a 3.0 base tune.

the narrow angle split port injectors, besides for barely fulfilling the fuel requirements of a 3.0, also have about the fuel atomization in an oval port as taking a piss on a brick wall.

all in all, use the injectors that were meant for your head/lim, and tune it.

if you just need it to work, you can toodle around on the splitport injectors, then when your ready to tune, tell him to tune for the grey oval port injectors. when the tune arives, splice the new injectors in.

dont waste money tuning for the wrong injectors, and no offense to the load of guys that think it's cool or anything, it's just ignorant....
