imrc missing

Sweet91,
I will be in Reading later in the week. I don't know exactly when yet. But when I do I can meet up with you and have a look.

I'll be in touch when I know when I will be up there.

Your statement is contradicting. "IMRC is missing but the secondaries still kick in?"

Unless the previous owner did the invisible IMRC mod, then i don't think that's possible.

its possible the IMRC was removed and the secondaries are braced/stuck open, I bet the car runs like ass below 3800 rpms.

To me it looks like sweet91 would like to have his secondaries back. Nothing is wrong with that. Also it is possible that his English is not the best.

but i dont have low end. and the car used alot of gas im only getting about 15 mpg. read on other forum they are said that im losing about 20hp. by my secondaries being gutted that is true? may be i should selll this one and get a diferent one

I actually got slightly better mileage when my secondaries were stuck open.

I met this fellow yesterday afternoon, looked at his car and drove it...the imrc is gone and the LIM appears to be gutted...you can see on the side of the LIM where the holes have been filled with some kind of filler or putty. The car makes little power down low, almost like it is bogging, but picks up a bit after about 4k. There is no CEL and an invoice from the engine rebuild states that the lower 2nd bank O2 sensor was rewired. To make it more interesting, the car apparently has a Zex nitrous system, but has not been reconnected since the engine rebuild.

He's looking to get it fixed cheaply, but after looking at the motor and driving it, thought he should just put in a 3L, as reinstalling the entire imrc system might be a little costly and would probably cause headaches with the computer - however, there is no evidence of any custom tune...no chip or anything. I never looked much into the pros/cons of eliminating the secondaries, only that I thought it made less power, but other folks can chime in...

fyi, the guy is Italian and has a very heavy accent, so his writing is similar to talking to him in person

Did I get it all, Mario? :)

So get a LIM and IMRC out of a junk yard. I'm sure somebody on here has a LIM for sale and an IMRC is like $10 in the junkyard. As far as it not having a CEL, are we sure that the bulb is still there. Also, since I was having trouble with my IMRC, I unplugged it for a while and after clearing the CEL a few times, it did not come on again, even though the IMRC was essentially missing. This should be like a $100 fix. http://www.contour.org/ceg-vb/showthread.php?t=34557&highlight=lim

The bulb is there, I asked the same question and apparently there was a CEL when he bought the car (something with one of the o2 sensors,) but he cleared it and it hasn't come back in the last 250 miles or so.

If all he has to do is get a LIM and imrc, then great! sounds like it is a cheap and easy fix :)

I have several SVT LIM's here but no IMRC's. But getting an IMRC is an easy task.

I have an IMRC. If you want it let me know.
sweet91accord, you have a PM.
