Let me first start off saying I HATE the new Camaro! Its too BIG and FAT and BLOATED! Then you get inside, nothing but a vast, wasteland of nothingness on the passenger side of the dashboard, borring. The only thing I like about it is the optional 4 gauge cluster infront of the shifter, that's pretty cool.

What I'm about to show you is some re-creation of the Firebird based off of this car, this isn't for the faint of heart if you don't like the Camaro but if you do, you might really enjoy these pics and if you do, glad I was able to bring them to you. FWIW, I heard the guy telling someone it takes 6-8 weeks to complete this transformation and they've got 2 going to Saudi Arabia, go figure.

I can appreciate what it takes to do this for sure, getting the decal font right, freestyling alittle bit with the decal colors but some things you can see they tried to cut costs, you'll see, I'll show you.

Hate or enjoy the pics...

They get an A here for the re-creation of the faux vents and the Torq-Thrusts, especially since they went ahead and re-created the PMD (Pontiac Motor Division) centercaps for them too. I also like the red stripe on the outer wheel too, gives it that redline tire look.

This view is one that many will get because the new Camaro is a pretty quick car, just don't think too many 11' Mustang GT owners will though. Nice use of the lettering and old school Firebird badging, nice touch. What's not so nice IMO are those exhaust cut-outs.

They did another good job on the seats, re-creating the correct design, just don't know if they used the same cheap, 60's vinyl or its leather, probably the later.

...but here is where it goes all wrong and you can see why...RED CARPETS, with all that blue, are you kidding me! Is someone color blind over there, geeez! Tuuuuuuurible as Charles Barkley would say and he'd probably say the same thing here too! The original never had anything like this inside, ever!

*I'm sorry if I threadjacked with "better" pictures, but it does show two different body styles

That body looks a HELL of a LOT different than the one I saw at GM Nationals '10. I found the pictures of the Firebird I saw.

^ That one is far better, IMO. Sleeker and modernizes the old with new styling.
The OP is creative but looks like they tried to hard to recreate the exact old one.

The only problem with the black one is that's a gen 2 body style, not gen 1 like the current Camaro is styled after. Two major things cooler about the above car though, are one those wheels, that's what I'm talking about when going retro, make them look exactly like the originals but use modern size and secondly, that shaker is VERY cool, looks like they make the motor a "bit" larger, 6.8L, close to the T/A 6.6 which was the Poncho motor whereas the ones that said 6.6 LITRE were Olds boat anchors. Its cool that the engine cover is painted Pontiac blue too BTW!

I like the front and back end on the above car but because the gen 2 car is more rounded, it looks to "slapped together" on the gen 1 lookin' car. I bet this is what the Firebird would've looked like if Pontiac got around to staying alive and asked to do their own car.

Thanks for the pics, just love those modern sized "snowflakes"

I like all of them. Though im not a huge camaro fan and am an avid mustang lover, i do like these spin offs of the camaro. They arent over done with 10 tv screens or whatever, but they are tastefully done.

i like this one much more better.

or this one.

but that being said i still don't like the camaro never had never will.

I like the front from SVT racers, and Thunders (about the same idea) with the back from cetrouts (even though you cant see it in those pics)

as for the front of the op, it's better than the one cetrout posted, but that grill is way to big. other than that, I think the op car is the best over all. the tails on SVTracers post are absurd... and the tails on the op car make me thing plymouth laser or daytona or something...

OP's tails are the most "accurate" IMO, but they are VERY ugly. None of the tails on these cars are attractive at all. New cars have GIGANTIC asses, and it ruins everything.

you can put all different colors of lipstick on a pig, its stil a big fat ugly pig.

Holy disgustingly ugly batman....

The one svtracer posted looks good, but the rest.... Yeah, excuse me while I void my bowels

The rearend on that one doesn't flow at all, I wish I could see the rearend of the orange one and white one with the honeycombs on it, can someone make that happen for me, can't find it.

i think the new camaro already looks fat and bloated, but with the body kits (to recreate the firebird or TA) i think that they look even fatter. to me chevy failed with this retro look for the camaro, i like the way dodge and ford handled their attempts at it, but none of them will ever look as good or as sexy as the originals from the 60's.

and for klasse act here is the back to the one i posted. it doesn't look right if you ask me.

yes, while none will ever be the orginal, Ford did a great job. Put a 06 next to a 69 and all the design cues jump right out. Also since everyone else did it after Ford .... also I have had non-ford guys comment to me that they like the new Mustang.

Tuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurible:eek:

The worse part about all of this the money spent to achieve this look, can you imagine what it cost to do this ontop of the $40k or whatever those damn cars cost.

Someone mentioned how much better Dodge and Ford did on their retro cars, yeah, Ford did the very best job, its not even close and IMO the Challenger is just was FAT and BLOATED as the Camaro is though. I know all the new cars have to be bigger (not really sure as to why, well, I kinda know and its got something to do with 38-44" waists) Ever notice on the new Challengers how its got the modern font in the grill and the retro emblem on the side....why:shrug::nonono: This is such a big deal to me, am I alone or just the anal retentive car dork I've always been:rolleyes:

i agree ford did do the best job. and i also have had non ford guys talk to me about how well the new mustang looks and what a good job ford did.

yes the challenger is bloated but as far as looks go i just think that it looks more like a challenger from the 60's than the camaro does. and i don't think that you're anal for differences in the badging on the challenger, i think it sucks too.
