I guess Canada doesn't mess around.

Its ridiculous because people invest thousands and thousands of dollars into their automobiles, and crushing the cars for breaking a law seems just a tad bit unjust. I could see jail time as a punishment, but not destroying a car, that is complete bull****! And chances are, they'll build new cars and keep street racing.

They invest thousands and thousands TO break the law. Unjust? Tell the families of the victims that. This action was brought on by innocent bystanders getting killed by street racers. I have no remorse for street racers. If they're willing to break a law for a 3 or 4 minute thrill that involves excess of 120 mph, then they deserve to pay a price that will keep them from being able to do it again. Chances are they can't afford to build a new one because they've probably had the living **** sued and fined out of them, and they can't get insurance money for the car that was crushed...let alone get insurance without paying an outrageous premium.

i drove 350mi without ins, registration, or a matching plate:eek: lucky me i didn't get pulled.
I have a friend who bought a POS Saturn ("race car"). Took one plate from his Eagle Summit and put it on the Saturn, and had a friend drive the Saturn from Syracuse NY to Worcester MA while he followed in his Eagle with same plate!

The fella's that bought my car in Louisville, KY, drove it home to Chicago with no tags on it. They had the title and stuff, but no visable tags. I reckon IL cops don't care.

What are there laws if a vehicle is in transit? Like a just purchased and just getting it home deal.

Since i've actually done some research on this as i might be buying an out of state car - You can file for an "in transit" tag from the DMV of the state you purchase the car in and go wherever you want. They're good for 30 days. The same fors for intra state transportation.

Based on what i've heard from other people, getting caught with no reg (provided you have proof ow ownership and a good story) isn't as bad as driving without insurance.

Why is it ridiculous? If people are getting killed by this act of recklessness, and it's something you can't contain...I see no reason why this is wrong. It's probably going to get the message across much faster than issuing a ticket. Other video's I've watched where cops issue tickets to street racers and spectators, they just laugh about getting a ticket and openly admit they'll do it again because it's worth it. If a fine doesn't hold them back, destroying their ride will.

This debate comes up every couple of months on here, street racing is illegal, no argument there, you have to pay to play. Lets be fair about this though, DUI's cars are not destroyed and DUI's kill more people every year than street racers. People that cause an accident due to negligence even if there is a fatality do not have their cars destroyed. Street Racers are an easy target that no one defends in court= easy money for the city. Every form of professional racing we have today can be traced back to street racing. As long as there are cars there will be street racing.

There is a difference between street racing and ricer street racing (swerving across 4 lanes, mad tyte driftin, ect). Like maddmike said, as long as there are cars, there will be street racing.

Oh and Alex, that would be the picture, lol.

Not sure if you're suggesting something here. Are you sayin' that since they're gonna do it anyway, let 'em?

Temp tag in Florida is paper, good for 30 days, and costs a whopping $5 last time I bought one a few years ago. I got it to transport(drive) a car I was restoring to/from paint & such.

I took the plate off my red SHO and put it my red SVT when I picked it up all the in SC. Had it on for a week and even had a cop follow me in town and never pulled me over. LOL! Most probably can't tell the difference in make/model/year anyways. As long as it's the same color. This post added nothing to the thread by the way.

No, there is no difference between what you said. Street racing is street racing, no matter how you try to "make it pretty." I agree though, as long as we have cars, there will be street racers...but with laws as strict as the ones in Ontario, it will probably cut down on the amount of people participating in it.

If this program was really fair, a DUI or a reckless driver in his 89 Buick would get his car crushed. What are the chances of a Z06 and a NSX being crushed if they were street racing? Not likely...

It's like saying if you add an extension on your home without getting a permit, your house it going to get burned down. You could be endangering lives just the same. If you street race you should punished no doubt, but they should not be able to selectively choose peoples cars to crush to make a point to other people. That's discrimination in my book. If your car was on lease and your street racing a brand new Civic SI bone stock, they should 100% destroy that car if they are being fair, what's the likelihood of that happening, the lease company is NOT going to let that happen. Too many loose ends on this law IMO.

It's like they are encouraging people to run. Like you guys said street racing is going to happen no matter what. If your racing someone at 120 mph in a 30 zone, you're a definitely a ****ing moron that deserves to pay the consequences. Chances are if you see the cherries come on as your racing and you know for a FACT that your car is going to be destroyed you aren’t stopping...only endangering more lives.

This law seems to take advantage of the guys that don't know any better or can't afford to defend themselves properly, just seems backward. There are so many examples to compare it to; if you are caught stealing a shirt at a department store you should have your entire bank account wiped clean etc.

Almost every young guy has done it, I'm sure the guy at the end of the video has. Just because you've grown out of it, doens't mean you can put a sledge hammer to the people just living out that part of their lives. Street racing is stupid and I don't support it, but you can't take destroy people's property for a mistake they made.
