I heard morette headlights off of an MK2 mondeo aren't an easy swap into a svt contour, something about extensive modification? I was wondering if this is true? I'm considering stripping off my paint, and priming my car until I take my paint classes at OTC, so i was just looking into a new set of headlights.

To say the least, yes it is a difficult conversion. The bumper, grill, fenders, and IIRC the hood are different. Not to mention the mondeo body lacks the body line that starts at the top of the fender and runs all the way to the back of the car. Word of advice, look up some pictures of mondeos with the search feature, and take a close look at the front end to get an idea of what is involved.

time to search the archives as this should have been covered. there is one SVT out there with mondeo morrettes, and it should be documented how it was done.

ohio technical college? if so, have fun... i graduated from there last year

Thanks Smalls, but I was on the morette website, and I did see the work that was involved, or I am starting to at least. I just thought it would be a cool mod.

I know this has been beat to death by every new member, but has there ever been discussion of a group buy where someone contacts them and see if we can get a batch made for the contour?

I may take on this project. Im going to buy some hazed up headlights rip them apart, buy some hella lights and glass em in. Paint over and you are good to go..... Your own one of a kind morrettes. Im sure this would be easier than friggin projectors...

What about adjustment?

I still have a set of mondeo morettes for sale if anyone wants them.

What about adjustment?

Adjust prior to glassing. Put them on the car lil tape here and there then glass the other side. Will prolly take some trial and error with that process but the end result would probable be worth it!

Even with the lights not working and pointing incorrectly they would be a nice addition for photo opps, Car Shows and such....

I already have all of this and done a lot of work. However it's not worth the time to retain the factory housing. This is what has slowed me down so much. I need to make a mold of the factory housing and modify it to retain the Hella 90mm projectors. I also have matching Hella projector turn signals. However making a mold without a ready made plug to start with is a lot of work. I've been trying to make a plug for the headlights for a while. First shot was with some high density foam and a carving knife. Epic fail on that front, which means now I'm left with trying to make it out of wood. Either way trying to make a symmetrical pair of plugs by hand is extremely difficult. So there you go just a little history on my project that has been going on for the past... I dunno know... 2-3 years? If you search you'll find my projector thread.

i've thought about fabbing up some custom headlamps from some junk yard lights, but the adjustment aspect was kinda getting me at a hold up, although we've seen regular tour lamps have the dual 90mm setup with the projector for the lows and the other reg 90mm lamp.. just need to fab a better surrounding for them with a lens for the turn signal and remove plastic lens.... i'm sure somebody is working on something like this...
