I would love to bring my car in, but I’m in the Portland, Oregon area. I can wait for a better version of the splitter since winter is here and wouldn’t be driving the bucket till spring/summer. Patience my SVT brothers… Steve has taken us this far – he’ll take us all the way, right Steve? Thanks

hey guys, sorry ive been out for a couple of weeks due to sema. just getting caught up finally.

ill be taking my own csvt in to ED this week. my car registration is expired and ive been waiting on a smog but i have some kind of stupid issue i need to fix which caused a CEL. i jut havent had time to deal with it. but i really didnt want to risk driving it to ED, 50 miles away, without valid tags. SO, i went ahead and forked out $150 today to get it "smogged" so i can get my reg taken care of properly and drive the car legally. it took me all week to be able to get it into the shop for that but i finally got it done today. had to stop in the middle of painting the dining room to do it lol. so im hoping maybe Tuesday i can drop it off down there. i checked out my car and the bumper looks good, just my mirko is beat up. but they'll be able to see how the mirko itself fits and then remove it and do their own test fitting. they can hold on to the car as long as they need to, well not TOO long lol. after they take their notes, im sure they'll be able to have the new revision done right away and on their way over here. ill let pete answer more on that but im guessing maybe another month? but at least we found this out, thanks to csvt#49, BEFORE we shipped a ton of mirkos out to everyone lol. and you guys who havent sent in your balances yet, just hold onto them. use them to buy your Christmas presents. im sure it will be a few weeks into the new year before we will need it. if you want to send it, no prob, but you dont have to. and those that just did, i can refund it if you like and you can resend it later. and ill be able to take the car back to them when the next revision comes in so they can test fit it themselves and see how it fits.

so it looks like we'll have a whole bunch of not so perfect fitting mirkos to sell for a less price now lol. i wonder if we can cut the end pieces off and just attach them like the original mirkos... csvt#49, you've dealt with both, what do you think? and ill be in touch with you and ooklah about those splitters you have, if you want to keep them or destroy them and wait for the replacements.

thanks for everyone's patience. we'll get it right!

and for the guy moving to SD, you could probably cruise up and pick it up in person. its like a 2 hour drive to fullerton from SD. make a day trip out of it.

I'll take one of the first batch mirkos! Hahahahah But seriously, I want one of the non perfect ones if you guys have them sit since the new batches are coming out. Get at me with a price shipped and how I can go about purchasing one through a PM, or through here, doesn't matter. If you need a phone number or email, I can give that to you, too, as well.

Steve your absolutely right. These splitters could have the wrap around parts cut off and would be just as good as the original Mirko splitter. In fact if people wanted to take on the task you could probably fiberglass the pieces back on in the correct location if you have the know how and skill.

Steve one more question, did you ever install the front bumper 'stays' to ensure that your front bumper is held out to the correct width? We would want to make sure they are working with a good representation to allow for the best fit since they are going through the trouble to get it right for us. Thanks again to both you and Pete for all your hard work on making this a great product.

I used to not have the stays before up untill about a week ago. I never knew the difference was that much. I think mine was off by like, a whole 3/4 inch on both sides somehow because I actually had to push the bumper in to fit the holes.

mike, i just crawled under my car to see if i have the stock bumper stays and it doesnt appear to have them  i dont know what they look like but i dont see any metal bars going from the car, to the bumper. anyone have a pic of what they look like? my car's never been in a front end collision so i thought they'd still be there.

if i dont have any, i guess ill need to get some asap. mattyk offered to send me his GB stays but i think he left for korea already. if someone else wants to sell me theres and ship them to me asap to install, i can then take it with the new GB style stays.

Honestly Steve your best bet is to pick them up at a junkyard so you get all of the hardware with them. Any Contour should have the stays and they should only charge you like $5 at the most.

Does anyone have a junkyard close to them that they can hit up and get them to Steve?

Ford "value engineered" the side bumper supports out (along with several other things) of the later cars to save money, so only the 1998 SVT Contours had them... even the 1998.5 SVT Contours didn't have them! By the 2000 model year you didn't even get an adjustable air vent on the passenger side of the car.

I have supports on both of my cars (that was why I offered one of mine for ED to test fit), so I'll get some pictures and e-mail them to Steve tomorrow.

DT.

Hey guys. I'm not participating in this GB, but I have a pair of bumper stays I will lend to the cause.

I would like them back when ED is done with their fitment.

PM me if interested. I can get them shipped out ASAP.

Interesting I thought it was just the 00's that got screwed on the deal.

blue fuzz may be able to come through for us....

if so, just need to get them from him, and get them installed.

On it ;) - will know today if I can have some in my hand by 5pm.

I DON'T HAVE ANY MORE TO GET DIMENSIONS FROM!

I sold off every last one so this will take a few days so if you need a set, get them from SHOgoFast for now.

Hey guy's, just tought i'd stop in so you guy's know I haven't forgot about you. Just waiting to see when we can get a car in. I even talked to ED yesterday and they asked about it. Lol, I told them we are working on getting them a car.

ah, when you make this stuff you gotta keep copies of the specs. unless you didnt plan on making them again.

besides bluefuzz's being stronger, is the fitment exactly the same? id assume so...
