Ford Fusion wins COTY award!

But they still don't have a 5 or 6 speed in the fusion with a v6.....A 2010 Sport with a 5 speed would be hands down the car I would want if it was available. But they are nice.

for the first time in my life, it think i'm actually proud to own a ford:).
Ford has always been a big name not only in quality but in value, as well. Since the late 70s, despite the media's relentless badgering, Ford has been producing quality vehicles. To say that owning a Ford is an embarassment is really the wrong thing to say, IMO.

lol. quality in comparison to what exactly? how deep the consumers' pockets are? its no news that ford put out some crappy vehicles the last 2 decades. no point denying that. all am saying is that ford is finally stepping up their game. am proud to see the day.

I'm not looking for an argument here, but I can safely say that Fords have been some of the most reliable, well-built cars on the road for exactly that time period. Hopefully, LauraSVT will jump in here, as he is much more knowledgeable than me and shares the same point of view.

It is no secret that Ford was bashed by the media for the last 20 years because it wasn't Japanese or European. Don't mix that up with them actually building bad cars.

The problem is that Ford has been so blah for a long time. No car was COTY worthy, and I can't really think of a car I would be "proud" of owning out of their regular line-up (not including some Mustangs, a couple SVTs). The old Taurus for example was a good seller, but it was bland inside, bland outside, just bland. Finally they are taking risks when it comes to styling and it seems to be paying off.

thats all am saying... a blind person could get into an 80s BMW or audi, get out, get into a ford product of the same class, and tell the difference immediately. thats quality u can feel. might not be able to see it. lol.

From what I've seen, you're a pretty blind loyalist to Ford. Believe it or not, Ford DID build quit a bit of junk over the last 30 years. They had their share of quality products, but plenty of junk as well. My father's '90 XR7 S/C Cougar had more issues than any car that has been in our family and it was absolutely babied.

I was going to post this as a new thread in Pics and Vids, but I think I'll just leave it here for you to enjoy-

My cousin's 2003 F250 Lariat V10 being towed in by my grandfather's 2003 2500 Silverado LT DMax. We had a good time parading it around all through the lots of Fox Ford in Grand Rapids yesterday. This was the second time that it has blown spark plugs out of the head.

Yeah. Being "reliable" and having "quality" are two different things. Ford has had some reliable vehicles, I don't doubt that. But Ford hasn't been known for high-quality since...well I can't remember the day. Now, they've never been as bad as Dodge, I would say, but they earned their reputation for a reason. Just compare a 1999 Contour to a 1999 Accord and you'll instantly see the difference. Which saddens me, because my 1995 Mystique was on-par or better than my old roommate's Accord EX of the same year.

But, Ford is definitely on top when it comes to the Big Three these days. And actually? I'm proud to say that, too.

Well said, and I agree 100%.

The V10 in the truck was the 6.0 correct? My dad would complain quite a bit about that engine, used to work for a Ford parts dealer. Thankfully they stepped away from that whole mess.

GM is waaaaaay more boring than Ford, when it comes to a vast majority of their vehicles. "Give it 4 doors and throw the 3800 in there." But nothing beats the absolute crap that Dodge has put out for the last 40 years.

The 3800 has not been produced since Friday, August 22, 2008 and it was being phased out LONG before that.

The Tempo, Escort, Taurus, 500, Focus, etc. were all waaaaaaay non-boring cars. :nonono: At least GM has been true to maintaining the SS division for a while, although word is that's done now thanks to the guberment.
