New Hampshire is one of the best states. But alright, we can do a drive through downtown Pawtucket instead. It's beautiful there. :laugh:

Anybody considered blasting out Rte. 44 from RI to Middleboro / Lakeville, MA? It's pretty countrified down there, and there's a great place called the Fireside on the traffic circle at 44 and 18 where we could stop for food.
 
If you want to do a loop around Quabbin where should we stop for food. Were you thinking lunch food or dinner food. From Ware up around the top back to Belchertown appears to be about 1 1/4 hrs. I'd like a nice scenic place to fill my gut.

The no NH issue is more of a factor of distance for the majority of our membership.
Last year's meet was in VT, which caused a lot of people to not go.
We have to try to be fair to everyone from one year to the next.

The best method for these things is for someone to step up and say
"ok folks, here's my plan: Here's a good meet up spot. Here's the route. Here are the scenic stops and/or other activities. Here's where we're doing dinner."
And if multiple people have such a game plan, then we all vote on the option we prefer, and then we do it.

I was really hoping that someone would have stepped up by now with a proposal, but I guess it's been a busy year for us all. Either that or everyone is waiting for the same old people to make it happen. :shrug:
I can't do it since I don't live close to where the majority of our membership lives. You guys know better than I do about what's good in your areas.

Let's meet at the Honey Dew Donuts in Abington, MA on the corner of Rtes. 58 and 123. If anybody wants a cup of joe or a donut, you'll be in the right place. Let us then run 58 south through quaint burgs like Hanson, Halifax, and Monponsett. (If you like, there's a place in Halifax called the Monponsett Inn that has an outdoor patio on a lake that we could make a pit stop at -- they also have Keno for those of you that are fans). Continuing down 58, we'll run through Plympton, across Rte. 44, through Carver, and smack into 495, which we can take north for a short hop of highway cruising. This will run us into 44, which we will take east right into the Fireside restaurant, where we can all enjoy a much deserved libation and some good cheer.

On the way back, either everyone can disperse, or we can run 44 back to 58 and then go the other way, since you'll then be familiar with the road.

Lots of cranberry bogs on this run, and a nice mix of scenery, varied terrain, and speed. :cool:

I'm definitely up for a good scenic cruise, esp. with the foliage changes.

I'm a big fan of a Rte 2 run out to the Berkshires, but it's a long run, and pretty far away from everyone equally. :)

But I'm up for any sort of a cruise.

Don't make waves. This is a drive and lunch trip. Coffee and doughnuts are optional. Johnny Law eats them at 11 AM, you can, too.

As for the date, I can do either 10/11 or 10/18, so its up to you guys what date you want to settle on.
 
I'm sure Brian and I can go to either day so it doesn't matter :laugh:. I like the 18th maybe better so it's more into Oct. I like Lauras idea but I agree to meet more like 10 so we can make more of a day out of it :crazy:. Hopefully we can take the turbo :drool:
 
I'm not sure about EITHER day. The 18th is a wedding so that is a no-go, and the 11th is my stepdad's birthday, though, I'm not sure if we are going to be having a "party" for him.
 
I'll chime in since LauraSVT brought up Quabbin and the older clan knows I used to live in Belchertown for a few years I would be more than happy to take us around for very nice ride through some very cool twisty scenic roads.

1st I make the meeting stop at the large parking area for the mass pike that is located in the rear of the McDonalds parking lot in Palmer, Ma this would make it easy for peeps taking RT.20 in or the Pike. We would then take some of my old back roads to the Quabbin which they just did a nice paving job on the roads in there,after a photo op there we will move onto RT.9 and make our way to RT.32A then jump onto RT.122 then hit the absolute best part of RT.202 all twisty going back to RT.9 with a couple of nice stops on the way( a nice apple farm with store and mountian views,a nice lake to stop at also) there is a parking spot on RT.202 that over looks the opposite side of the Quabbin before we end back in Belchertown( this whole route if you look on a map loop around the entire Quabbin reservoir) and make our way to the McDonalds in Palmer. This route isn't qiuck but not crazy long but a very nice driving route with sites...one of my favorites in the fall. just an idea I wanted to throw out there.
