Thanks all.Yea I wouldnt "destroy" anything I couldnt easily fix. I really like that Mirko race car...may have to clone that one if I do it. I actually already have rims on it that resemble some of those racing ones. But like somone said, decals and paint can be removed, wing removed and im back to normal. As for a cage..."maybe" a removable one like they sell for these tuner cars now. a full hoop with the down pieces slide in and bolt up and then bolt to the floor. I would only really want to clone looks like the couple of cars I see around here. Race look with street confort. we'll see where I go when I get the 3.0 in.

You cannot do a cage comfortably or safely in a street car. /discussion

Just ask yourself one question though before you embark on this.

Have you ever seen a cavalier or something like that in a parking lot with a big aluminum wing on it, a bunch of decals, and a streetcar interior? What did you say when you saw it?

instead of spending money on building a race clone...buy a 2nd car and race the hell out of it at some local events! hmm looks like you already have a bunch of other cars...just race the contour anyway. at places with turns.

Who is the girl.....you know someone was going to ask! I am assuming that is the Mirko Racing team?

Cant tell you who the girl is sorry. the guy on the far left is chris stancombe, he was head of Ford UK SVED (Special Vehicle Engineering & Development), and the guy on the right is the driver. think the girl and the two other guys were just team employees. and that is the official Ford UK team, that was the livery they used before it changed to the yellow and blue 'rapid fit' livery.

Ive actually got a jacket from the official ' ford team mondeo ' BTCC team, it belonged to one of the pit crew, was never available to the public as it was official team merchandise supplied to staff of team mondeo, i bought it brand new from one of the team after it diss banded, as he had two, and had only ever worn one, it was still in the plastic bag withthe tags attached. ive been offered silly money for it, but cant bring myself to sell it as its that rare. i only ware it for what we call mondeo meets over here, aka, a meeting of mondeo owners.

that's so cool  you suck;) but yeah the girl is probably someones daughter:shrug::laugh:

I keep forgetting how popular the mondeo really is over there.

It is like the polar opposite of here.
Mondeo = perfect car in europe
Contour = gets mistaken for an escort and people call it a grandma car in the US

The mondy is referred to as the mundaneo amongst other things on the modified/enthusiast scene over here aswel, but it does have a very strong following due to the ST variants, which do get quite a bit of respect due to the 2.5 V6 engine being classed as big engine over here. obviously in america and engine that size isnt big as you have big V8 etc's. away from the modified/enthusiast scene the mondeo is a very well respected car, it always has sold in big numbers since its launch in 92/93, and still does to this day in MK4 variant. i myself have pretty much drove mondeo's since 97 when i passed my driving test, i have had other cars in that time, but they were always bought as cheap run arounds between mondys. ive always loved mondys, and always will, ive had two MK1's, a MK'2, and a MK3, always found them good cars, drive well, cheap for parts, reliable, spacious, and the two V6's ive had, including the current one, go quite well for what they are, and the sound they make with a stainless exhaust and induction kit is very addictive. the only thing is the price of fuel over here when running V6 everyday, we pay roughly £5 a gallon, think thats about $10, and i get 25MPG if i drive steady, under 20MPG if my right foot is feeling a bit heavy. but that doesnt really bother me, i love the car, so when it needs fuel it gets it, but that does put a lot of people off.

When I was telling people I bought a contour, and someone from the uk asked me what it is, I said mondeo. They replied with something to the tune of "oh, over here the mondeo is the car of choice for chavs and crackheads".

You were missinformed, the car of choice for chavs is most deffinatly the vauxhall corsa, closely followed by the citroen saxo. as far as crackheads, they dont have cars over here, if they did, it would be sold asap to go buy some crack to get high

Most of the mondy enthusiasts over here are family men, the car suits the needs, big enough for the wife and kids, and the shopping, and can still be enjoyed with like minded family men and car enthusiasts.

Our crackheads in the states are pretty much the same.

maybe

just maybe

we arent so different after all

One question though. What is a chav? Sorry for my trouble with UK vernacular, most of my friends overseas are from Asia.
