civic si? what?

89-91 (I think that's the right years) civic si's were the best. The car to have in STS class in autox.

The Civic Si in those years was basically a CRX with rear seats. I *craved* one, but then I lucked out and got a first-gen Integra instead. The Integra had a little more power and it had power steering, which the CRX/Civic didn't have in the 1988-91 model run.

Okay you need to keep in mind we dont know the town you work in, therefore we wont know what makes it funny. If its a "this is funny if you are here to witness it" kind of thing, then its pretty obvious that you shouldn't post it.

well yes but i already explained y it was funny. there are many other ppl who appreciate exactly what i appreciated today. if someone doesnt appreciate it then they dont have to be such an a$$hole about it.

Your explanations were still crap, and you still didn't answer my questions...

The guy owns a $60k car and you think you understand how it works...gee where would I rather be...:blackeye:

Your crap attitude towards people with means is what I find funny.

Yes, that's a stock Civic Si Hatchback. I owned an '87 Civic Si Hatchback for a few years before I purchased my 96SE. My Civic Si would average 35MPG in the city and 45-47MPG on the highway. With only 90HP, it was still surprisingly quick, because it didn't weigh much at all. On a 'controlled course,' it could sprint up to 127MPH. A 5-speed manual was the only transmission choice, aiding with the acceleration and fuel economy. The back seats could slide fore and aft. The 'trunk' was only about 10 inches of space behind the rear seats.

The 'Si' badge meant that it came standard with 'sporty' body molding, a sunroof, air conditioning and fuel injection (the other Civics were still had carbs). My biggest complaint was that it didn't have cruise control (or at least mine didn't!). In addition, those 1.5L engines were known to have overheating problems due to a design defect -- I installed a special head gasket just to try to alleviate this common overheating issue (it worked somewhat). It was a fun car, but I've put many more miles on my sportier and more comfortable 96SE.

With that gas mileage, are you sure you didn't have the Hf? My brothers 86 CRX Si never got that kind of mileage...but the Hf model sure did.

Mine was definitely the Si. Its gas mileage was nothing short of incredible. I still have the MS-Excel spreadsheets I kept -- they show that the 10K miles I had the vehicle, it averaged 37.9MPG (combined City & Highway). I sold the Si to my brother in law after I purchased my 96SE. I had a friend with an '87 Accord, it too would get excellent MPG -- low 40's on the highway.

I don't understand all of the hype about hybrid cars, when some vehicles were getting much better fuel economy 20 years ago! I suppose the hype has more to do with emissions than real-world fuel economy. I'd love to get my hands on a decent condition Honda Civic VX (92-95) -- mid 50 MPG range with decent performance.
