Carlisle 2010 discussion

thanks for doing the legwork paul,

I'd chip in 20$ for a tent.

I guess i'll be the first dick and say i'd rather have a closer spot but i'll go with whatever the group decides. If the club decides to go with the non-svt's they will probably still have an SVT section for judging atleast?

Thanks for being the go-to dude for the tent deal , Paul .

[soapbox]
In the opinion of this long-term CEG'er (10+yrs) , I think that since we (CEG) are bound together by a common interest (the Contour/Mystique) , the club should all stick together & do the club tent , AS A GROUP , WHEREVER they may put us , close to the grandstands or not (closer would be better , if anyone from Carlisle is reading this ;) ) . We need to stick together & show our solidarity towards the CDW-27 platform , SVT or not . I have been attending the AFN show for many years , and attended my first AFN in a Contour in '97 or '98 - before there was a Contour class (don't remember what year that happened) . I like the show - unfortunately it got ALL screwed up last year . I have a feeling they'll get it all straightened out this year . OUR JOB IS TO GET OFF OUR BUTTS AND ATTEND - put ANY/ALL ill-feelings towards anyone/anything out to pasture & show that we can all band together & pull in some decent CEG numbers again . I worked HARD to get this whole Contour class going early on & it kinda burns me up to see it all go to crap lately .I really want to see everyone there this year - support your damn club , people !!! I consider each & every one of you guys my friends & I want to hang out with my friends this year at the All-Ford Nats .
[/soapbox]

correct...regardless to where our club is placed, all Contour SVT's will be judged against other Contour SVT's...however, if someone registers a Contour SVT who is not with CEG, they will be placed with the other Ford SVT's away from our club...

i might be out this year depending on where i am working and what not.

jeff,

you know the ride out was one of a kind. boobs, hot girl, beer and being drunk in Beverly hills

Well said Allen. :) Now go find that trunk net for me! :D

I'm willing to chip in for the tent as well and closer parking is good too.

im tired of being beat in numbers by those damn escorts!

To be clear, there will be NO non-SVT's in the SVT area, that is not an option.

I think they need to be reminded that the other year there where non-svt foci in the SVT area, they didn't get split up. If they are going to do that then they need to split them up or let us stay together. I mean what will we have, maybe 4 non-SVTs? really ....

Hmm, I wanna go - and would pitch in for a tent, but my car isn't so sexy looking atm - she's got some paint issues creeping up now (faster too b/c of the fuggin snow since moving here from FL)

Our SVT Contour will be parked with CEG. For us, it's not about winning trophies or where our group is situated on a field. It's about sticking with our brothers and showing everyone what a great car club we have.

So is registration already open? can we start registering now?

Thanks Paul for doing the legwork. If there is a deadline for the group to sign up by, I'd like to know when you know.

I just got off the phone with Rick...he can put us at what would be the "end" of the SVT section which would allow for our non-SVT members to be placed with the SVT's...it would be near Gate 6 to the right of the rock crawling section. We would still be associated with the SVT showfield and be able to include all of our club members with the tent. Cut-off date for registration/tent is May 17.

isn't that in the back? where they tried moving some of us the other year when there where way to many mustangs for the SVT area? or the rock crawlers are up on the hill, so thats up on the hill?

it would be close to where we were 2 years ago. but up where the merkurs were

I just recall gate 6 being back behind the SVT area and was basically an overflow area. they tried to get us to move back there before .... it just seems like they are and aren't working with us at the same time based on what I have read.

the last (and only) AFN i attended was 2 years ago. We were put at the BOTTOM of the hill. I remember looking at the hill upward and seeing all the Merkurs and then the rock demos were rope'd off at the top. the focis were "behind us", (as well as the SHOs) and they had ALL of the "non-SVT" foci in there as well.

and as Frechie stated, I'm not in this for the awards and junk. I just like the association within the club and how many people show up to support us. :)

Registration is now open, there is even a drop-down box for our club, "Contour Enthusiasts Group" As most everyone knows, please use it so we can get credit for the tent. If folks expect to pay $20 or less for the tent, then we need at least nine registered members willing to contribute...remember, if we reach 25 registered club members, the tent is free. Again, cut-off date is May 17, 2010. You can use this link:

Moving forward, I would like to report back to Rick this weekend what the club decision is regarding our placement in the showfield. To review, we can be separated by SVT and non-SVT classes, with the Contour SVT's being placed with the other Ford SVT's in the SVT showfield and the non-SVT's being placed elsewhere on the fairgrounds. The other option is to be placed at the "end" of the SVT showfield (near Gate 6) where we would be placed as a club (including both SVT's and non-SVT's) but still allowing our Contour SVT's to be associated with rest of the SVT showfield. Please be clear where you stand on this decision so that I can accurately tally club consensus.

Is there anyone planning to attend who will be registering a non-SVT?

I have no issues chipping in for the tent.

I would like the group to be together.

I will most likely bring the SE this year.

however I don't like placement we would be given back by gate 6. In the past that has been like a overflow area iirc.

What about being over on the hill like normal?
