ok so i did my 3L swap recently on my 1998 E0 CSVT and i noticed today at about 30 mph and above my car shakes because of the clutch??? when i press the clutch pedal down it goes away... did I not do something right ? had the flywheel resurfaced and installed the clutch disc correctly im sure of it but wtf is making the car shake so bad for ? anyone had any thing happen like this before ??? just curious because it sucks going over 40 i feel like im gonna shake my car apart.. no longer driving it till i figure it out... any advice is appreciated thanks!!

Also I only replaced the clutch disc only (to a 6 puck) and resurfaced the flywheel, I did not replace the throwout bearing or slave because the previous owner had it don't within 6K miles by the paperwork she gave me. Should I just go back into it and replace everything or ?????

Worst case is that the clutch disc isn't centered .

I used the clutch alignment tool :( im hoping its not that im not wanting to take this motor back out :( or trying to open the tranny up from the wheel well to align it again..

But Joe, should that not be the case if the transmission is mounted back to the block? Because once the input shaft goes into the clutch disc hub spline, it should align itself once the transmission is bolted to the engine. Or am I missing something?

Thats what I was thinking... And the tranny went back on to the motor with ease... I didn't force it or pry it a all..

Did you put the metal gasket between the engine and the trans?
Yes I did put the metal gasket back in-between the trans and the motor

what did you do with the pressure plate?
Nothing just removed it and re-installed it as u would normally.

um, normally the pp should be changed with the clutch disk. it has a wear surface. It could be that the disk isn't wearing correctly on the used PP. Also the new disk might have a different thickness then stock. Have you checked to make sure that the clutch engages and disengages correctly?

was the flywheel resurfaced correctly?

.... are you sure the pressure plate went back in the right way round ? (just asking)

Also; are the driveshafts fully seated in the transmission, did the tri-bearing joints pop out during the swap, is the center bearing carrier tight ? ... G.

There is probably nothing wrong with the clutch. Gorman asked the obvious stuff and that is where you need to start. The only reason the shaking stops is because you are not transferring power anymore so I suspect a damaged CV joint. They are easy to pull apart when removing if you are not careful.

gotcha well i didnt even think about replacing it since it was so new as for the fly wheel, the guy's company that did the work has been doing fly wheels since my dad was a kid... his son did mine im sure with his 20+ years of work he has done it correctly

pressure plate is corect for sure that i know... like i said i have done many clutch jobs none with a shake or rattle like this before .... im now leaning toward your tri bearing issue because they did pop out during the swap i just turned them and popped them back in... that's my first place i should check!!
