Cam specs

Here's the only specs I have:

Stock
Duration @ n/a Tappet Lift : 290/286 degrees (Int/Exh)
Duration @ .050 Tappet Lift : 206/205 degrees (Int/Exh)
Lobe Center Spread : 111 degrees
Lobe Lift : .352/.343 (Int/Exh)

Another spec supposedly between the Focus Zetec & VCT model(ZX2/CDW27) intake cam:

stock focus intake cam
.348" lift, 202 deg duration @ .050"

stock zx2 intake cam
.367" lift and 214 deg duration @ .050"

zx2 intake cam should be the same as ours. we share engines, except for some modifications for it to fit in such a small car.

Zxtuner offers exhuast cams for our car as well. But this is the only place ive ever seen to offer a vct cam.

Kent makes some performance cmas for the zetec's. most are the hydraulic lifter pre5/98 types but they are pretty good. This is the site that I got most of my parts for the build I did on my Zetec (Forged pistons, crank, con rods, rings, cams and other assorted parts for the build.) It's a UK company so make sure research to make sure it'll work or you may end up having to get machine work done to get it to work (like I did with the pistons) and also they are a bit pricy (more so with including the shipping.)

The Zetec E is the engine you'll want to focus on the most.

if he was doing pistons. All forged pistons ive seen are slightly over bore, so he would need machine work anyways.

whys that? i have a hallowed cat on the car, very little restriction on the exhaust end, and i think the intake on the car is pretty good flowing, would it make that much of a difference?

the tb will get you some gains and the hollowed cat although better creates lots of turbulence because of the large chamber. headers will flow better, perform better and look better. you also get a larger downpipe.

Dont forget to install a set of cam gears with the cams. then you have to spend the hours on the dyno fine tuning the gears to get the best gains.

I got minimal gains by tuning the cam gears....but the powerband did change noticeably.

loco im sure you can agree with me on this. VCT is hard to tune with and for.

when i was going to attempt my small build. I was going to remove it entirely.

I have to agree 100%.

Dan, for the record....at the time of the cam gear tune, I had both cam gears.
