BLKOUT2: Rebirth. PRT 2011 track car build thread.

^^I agree. I would make 2x2 or 2x3 square tube outriggers through the floor that tie the inner rocker and subframes together...then put the main hoop on top of those outriggers. I did this in my Mustang instead of just using the plates welded or bolted to the floor (not my idea of ideal! lol). Can do the same up front near the firewall too if you are doing a full cage and going through the dash with the A-pillar bars...that will give your tall ass some more legroom. These outriggers tie everything together...and make it more like a full chassis car. That will really stiffen these tin cans up!

I thought my Fox Stang flexed up on the jackstands before I welded in a full cage...the CSVT flexes even more. The doors drag on the strikers quite a bit when its on jackstands. Definately need to get the subframe connectors I got welded in. Time to get that gorgeous Lincoln 180c welder out and cook them •••••es in.

How crazy of a cage is the track car getting Josh?

To people with CDW27's that already have subframe connectors and the like and where looking to stiffen up a street driven car without all the sacrifices a roll cage comes with. People like maybe #49 for instance, who want a top notch car, but still want a full interior...

These parts exist for other vehicles, why shouldn't they exist for ours?

honestly? no one is going to pay what the parts would be worth other then maybe CSVT#49. Sounds interesting to me but I do not want my car that stiff for street driving, imho. So that leaves someone like Pole120 who is actually building a race car ....

lets keep this on track about getting updates from Pole120 on the build ...

My car is eventually getting a cage. You can have a cage and still have a full interior. Case in point the PPG and Bondurant cars...

Exactly. My Stang has a full cage and will have a full interior (minus a rear seat delete).

Back on topic though....cant wait to see the motor and tranny mounts Josh!

Getting back in the garage starting Wednesday and hoping to start the wiring re-work as I locate everything in the cabin this time around. The battery will be relocated to the interior firewall to gain additional clearance for the SC intake I intend to develop and jump posts will be fitted in the bay. Additionally the new engine mount isolators are here, so I can begin design work on the new mounts. I've also been toying with the idea of building new roll resisters from scratch as a potential replacement for the filling service I offer.

i made one out of plate steel for the front, i love it. if you redid every mount you could in theory lower the motor down and get the cg lower

I had thought about lowering the motor, but I opted to keep is as it and the oil pan above the SF for the sake of protecting it somewhat should I go off-track.
