Bellhousing Adapter Coming Very Soon

A Mark 8 ( 93 -98) , Cougar ( 94-97) , or ThunderChicken ( 94-97) would have a similar rear end ( but no posi ) for next to nothing at a junk yard. All of these vehicles had IRS and beefy aluminum control arms. Add a used limited slip for $50 and you are ready to go. Big brakes too if you wanted the whole setup.

Thanks for the clarification on that. I hadn't even thought about those models, I believe they have a smaller carrier than the Cobra does so they may be a better option anyway.

It was setup for the Jag rear drivetrain. To make this feasible, for high HP, it would be best to use a beefier rear end. Honestly a Cobra IRS would be great and relatively easy to come by as swapping the IRS for a solid axle is a common mod on high HP Cobras.

It wasn't on mine :D IRS still in place, although seriously modified for the horsepower level.

The Thunderbird (and I presume the Cougar too) used nodular iron center sections, while the Cobra is all aluminum. I don't know about the center section on the Mark 8's however... I seemed to think the 99-04 Cobras were the only ones to get an aluminum housing. I do know the others used the iron housings though, and the rear covers are different. They do all use the 8.8" gearset, so posi units and gear ratios are plentiful for the application ;)

I see how it is, no love for the Zetec. I'd totally do this if it were for a Zetec. With a Zetec, you'd have more room under the hood, therefore less clutter, and more room for a HUGE turbo. Also, if you run a solid rear axle from a fox body Mustang, you can keep the same rims cuz they have the same bolt pattern, and still run 4 wheel disc brakes.

Overall though, it sounds awesome, and i cant wait to see how things turn out.

The only Fox body Mustang to come equipped with rear disc brakes in a four lug was the 93 Cobra, which actually used the rear disc set-up from the earlier Thunderbird Turbocoupe I believe. It could be done but you'd need the specific parts to make it work... the caliper mounting brackets come to mind.

im looking into this actually. front bearing is the same ID as the escape so the escape hub should work, and its the same 5 lug as the mustang. not sure on the rear. havent had a chance to look into it

Your track car would be an awesome candidate for this. I guess you could use the pumpkin, axles, and hubs/spindles from a AWD escape, although I'm not sure how well those parts would handle the power.

Didn't the Lincoln LS run a RWD Duratec? That might be a good place to start for an oil pan and pickup tube.

There was a 30's street rod at the 2010 Del Shannon Car Show that had a RWD Duratec in it.... I will try to figure out where the pictures went.

Cut one bolt hole off a t5 fox mustang bell, get a 1/4" thick piece of 6061-T6 aluminum, transfer punches and a dial indicator and you should be most of the way there. i'd like to try to swap the SHO v8 after i tig the cam gears. unless you duratec guys can make more stomp on the cheap.
