I got a little brother for our Mazda6 SportWagon - a '90 B2600i . It's got some miles on it , but was owned by a friend who bought it new , and has meticulous records all the way back to it's first oil change at 1,000 miles . It was kept in a heated garage it's whole life , till now :( . Hopefully it'll give me a few good years . I haven't owned a truck in a looooong time , it should come in handy . On with the pics :

Very clean for the age. 4cyl? Are you planning on keeping the rear bumper?...its kinda fugly.

Yea , 2.6 liter 4 cyl , 5 speed . The rear bumper is original - he ordered the truck with it . I may fab up an offroad-style front bumper to match it , then it won't look out of place . Personally I don't mind it as much as the stock step bumper .

Nice. :)
It's nice that you know the history too.

I'm impressed, no rust on the front bumper, which is where they rust first.

My Dad had one of these with the SE-5 + 5 package that included the rear step bumper versus the cheaper tube bumper... we had a total of 4 of these trucks in the family over the years, but only one 4x4 like this (others were a B2000 Cab Plus, a regular B2000, and a regular B2200).

Has the head gasket been replaced? They tend to go, but they are a cheap and easy to fix if you catch them early (my dad did more than one of the trucks in the yard).

Thanks guys :) .

It's funny that you ask about the bumper , James . If you look closely at the passenger side of it , next to where it attatches to the corner cover , it's got a bit of rust - just a little . Seems like an odd place to rust to me , but I guess not  .
I'll have to look at his records to see about the head gasket . I'll have to keep an eye on it . My friend (another) just replaced the HG on his B2000 , so he'll lend a hand , I'm sure . His is a carbed B-series , but I'm sure they're very similar . If I need a project this summer , maybe I'll replace it as preventative maintenence (if I have the time , lol) .

I've always liked this truck , and it's in pretty fair nick , so I'm hoping to have it a while .

I see it now too... and while odd in general, it's not to this truck. The head gasket is very similar as far as I know... my dad did both the 2600i and carbed ones in the yard and the process appeared the same.

Thanks again - it seems like it could be a nice little truck , although James has me worrying about the head gasket , lol ! I'll certainly be looking through the records - I don't remember seeing it when I glanced through it before :( .

The rust on the bumper is small - could be covered by a deck of cards (for a size comparison) . I was planning on cutting it out & welding in a new piece , till I decide how/if I want to go about fabbing up a different bumper .

One is to shift through the gears for regular driving, the other is to put it into 4wd. That's my guess anyway.

one is probably to switch from 2wd to 4wd and also from 4hi to 4lo. that's how my isuzu is anyways.

nice find. i was in LOVE with that truck back in my mini truck days. i had a slammed b2000 myself. the b2600i is the king of the b series and hardly any were fixed up, that i ever saw. bigger engine and hood to clear it. you've also got the coveted 4x fenders which guys would add to the 2wd versions (like fender flares).

raise that bish up. my buddy had a b2200 raised about 4 feet on 44s. it was awesome!
