amp not working?

Too late, got it fixed. I don't know what i did different, but it works now >.>

Also had to jerry rig my cd player..XD

well iirc you were running dual or something...

Im only running a dual head unit right now..and it works fine >.>

The part i was referring to about jerry rigging my cd player is that some wiring is messed up deeper within the car's actual wiring, so i hooked it up to a 3 way switch for now. I actually like it more..because i can work on my car and not have the keys to listen to the cd player. Ill get it fixedt his weekend hopefully.

except the remote wire doesn't work?

The wire wasn't pressed into the harness all the way.

That wire works, but none of the others work..seeing how the cd player woks perfectly with power straight from the battery, i would probably say its deeper within the car.

Hmm the remote wire should run directly from the head unit to the amp... shuoldn't be in a harness

my bad. but thanks for the sir. but seriously help yourself to something nice and step away from the dual. i installed them for over 2 years and saw wayyyy too many come back and break. and if they didnt break they sounded broken out of the box.

It sounds nice for the price i paid for it, and i haven't had a problem with it besides the remote wire coming loose out of the back of the harness...so why change something thats not broken?

I had a kenwood before this, and the dual sounds better than it so i think i did some good upgrading. Thanks and no thanks for the 'help'.

get back to me when you have a good system in my car and you'll wonder why you ever thought the dual sounded good. i know where you're coming from because I used to think that stuff sounded good, but you just weren't introduced to the quality of some brands. i'm just trying to open your eyes to some good stuff. ask anyone who knows a bit about car audio that at the beginning you're happy with low quality stuff but once you hear a well balanced and built system you'll be astonished.

I do know the quality out there, kenwood is the best i have ever heard. I don't care what everyone else thinks or likes, as they are not me. I am fine with my 140$ cd player, because it does everything i need it to..which is play my mp3 player. I am not going to any sound competitions, and im not putting my stuff in there to impress anyone. I am putting it in there because it meets my desires, so your input is not needed. Once again, thanks but no thanks for your 'help'

Crap you two, both of you are correct in certain ways.

ConcepTrs913 - Yes Dual is a bargain brand mainly catered for looks rather than quality or sound. But you know what, its cheap! Mywhip is young, doesn't have alot of $$, so he's buying what he can afford. We all went through this starting out and just about anything is an upgrade over stock.

MyWhip- He's right that your Dual head unit could be the issue here. I was selling/installing stereos for a company when dual first came out and it seemed like 1 out of every 3 came back with some sort of issue. And like him, when you have the money to spend, It would recommend upgrading out of Dual.

To both of you, "best I've ever heard" is subjective. There is alot more to reproducing sound than a head unit regardless of the brand name on it.. I've never seen a head unit with a speaker on it besides a cheap flip out center chanel.

The head unit worked fine in the contour, and works perfect in a bench test..so theres faulty wiring in the car somewhere. If the cd player was faulty, it wouldn't turn on at all with the bench test. You are right, i don't have a bunch of money to be spending on stuff when im not making that much money.

I have only been messing with car audio for a year, almost two so of course i have not heard as much as people in their 30's. Cheap is better for me right now, as cash is tight.

Hell, the only reason i have subs in my current car is because i got them for free >.>

Just because it worked once on a bench test doesn't mean it works all the time. Your car rides over bumps constantly. There could be interior wiring that is messed up and works sometimes and doesn't work others. That's what I'm trying to say.

Oh and I'm 20. Definitely not in my 30's. I have just had the opportunity to install car audio for over two years at work beginning when I was 18. If you want to learn more research over on the12volt.com it has a ton of info.
