3L vs. VR6

as far as Golf's handling better than Contours... Not gonna happen. My buddy has a 20th ann. GTI 1.8T, and we run the same times in AutoX within .5 seconds. Correct me if i'm wrong, but a 190+ HP turbo'd car should be faster than a 135ish HP N/A car. Could be driving skill as well, but not sure.

We're gonna have fun Noob. You think neither car has busness racing, so i guess you're gonna •••• bricks when i start posting up videos of a Ford Tempo going down the track. Everyone will probably be sayin, " nice run" while you pop in saying, "that car has no business being driven Period! Get a Mitsubishi 3000GT Twin Turbo or 95 Eagle Talon TSi"

Chill out and quit trying to start crap.

Just shut up. Quit being a troll and flame baiting. If you are gonna argue with someone, at least have the decency to have a point before you clog a thread. Yeah, we all know CSVT aren't going down a quarter in 9 seconds. They are FWD touring cars. The guy wanted an apples to apples comparison. No reason he can't ask for that. There is no reason to clog a thread arguing that those apples don't compare to some orange, so there is no reason to even talk about them. If a person was asking a million stupid questions, that is different from one stupid question. My original thought when I read the original post was that the OP wanted to know how a 3 liter in a contour rates against a VR6 in who knows what in a drag, which he could have gotten an idea of by searching for 3 liter quarter mile times and looking up VR6s on google or something, either that or he wanted to know how they do for things like autocross. That can be a little more difficult to find just with a basic search.

By the way, noobs flaming, trolling and whining..... that sounds a little more like honduh tech to me than a noob asking a semi-dumb question.

I was actually aiming more towards Brogan, not you. Just answering his question in a dumb way.

I caught that, just going along with you.

yes, sorry to clog such an informative thread. He definitely insinuated this would be through auto-x, not street racing.

whining? Please. Troll harder.

and suck on a banana

Omg thank you. Thats all I wanted to know. Not all this high school drama. I just wanted a simple yes or no answer and not insults. Thank you to the people who actually helped me out.

You have to pretend you're not interested in racing or breaking the speed limit.

You have to keep up the pretense that you are spending zillions of dollars on your car, to put into practice your considerable education and not gunning for wannabe's that need putting in there place.

Finally, being a newb, many can't resist using you to vent there pent up frustrations .. remember that and you'll do fine.

Mod your car and enjoy the process ...G.

My dream project car- Turbo VR6 Corrado

This thread got WAAAY out of hand. If anything, "YOOO" made it feel like the honda tech forums. Unfortunately, people like that like to hide behind their computer screen cause that's all they've got. So after all this, do you all feel more masculine? or more like you've wasted your time arguing with people you'll probably never meet face-to-face..?

At first I thought you said Coronado. Needless to say I was confused. A properly prepped 3.0L should be putting down 250 crank hp....so it it around the same power numbers as a corrado.

MKIV Golfs/Jetta's handle like ••••. Solid rear axle+FWD+open diff=terrible handling.

There is so much fail in this thread, but this really takes the cake.

To the OP; You want answers? head to the local drag strip and watch. See what guys are running. (as an aside... In my '98 VR6 Jetta GLX I ran a 14.4. Intake, Cams and Exhaust...)

Then head to a local Autocross.

To YOOOO; You're damaged goods spouting off about a Jetta/Golf handling poorly. Even bone stock they do very well in the twisties. Check out Grassroots motorssports top 25 cars of all time. I must have missed the CSVT on the list...The VW is there...better yet? In MKI form (hint, same "••••TY" handling suspension..."

Now, to be fair, I haven't driven many SVTs. I'm trying to buy a 3L CSVT right now actually. I'm 36 and I have been racing and autocrossing with them since '97 or so when I ran a Gen 1 SHO. I have a HUGE respect for the CSVT but love when folks just burp out misinformation. Frankly the BS is worse on the VW forums. You can't open a thread on the Vortex without popping 3 tums and crying for the future of our nation.

Drag racing is a nice, simple way to baseline and chronicle gains from engine and chassis mods. Nice to baseline a newly acquired car before any work starts, then you can see the actual difference in the power the car makes, and how it puts it down to pavement. Then again, I've been around enough to know that most folks shy away from concrete numbers and facts.

No.

This is incorrect. The G60 put down 158 at the crank and the VR6 176
