3L vs. VR6

This site's member demographic is spiraling downhill, unfortunately. We have a wave of new idiots who do nothing but piss off the ornery, impatient old farts...

On topic, a VR6 in anything is nothing to write home about. At the strip, I'm sure a 3L which has been installed and tuned properly would spank the VR into next week.

Once again, it depends on the model. I, for one, think it would be an even larger spread in the contours favor if turns were introduced. The CDW-27 chassis was a far better designed and engineered chassis than anything MKIII or MKIV.

and yeah it really depends on the vr6...98 era? i think an svt contour could beat an mk4.
 
shut it noob. if someone wants to drag race a moped, they're allowed to. when u find a rule anywhere that states the supposed drag car has to run a certain time in the quarter mile dragrace, pls post it & i'll agree with u. until then, anyone can drag whatever the heck they want.

If kids can get out here in their Civics/Preludes/Accords or whatever else and run 11's in the 1/8th mile then everyone else has "business" running their Contour at the dragstrip.

What is it exactly you have or drive that's quick enough to drag race BTW?

2 wrongs don't make a right. If kids want to run their ••••box's down the quarter then by all means they have the right. better than street racing past minivans that will blow the doors off both cars, which is clearly what the OP is talking about.

It's good to step outside the world of contours every once in awhile. There's a lot of other cars out there

MKIV Golfs/Jetta's handle like ••••. Solid rear axle+FWD+open diff=terrible handling.

I highly doubt it. My old 3.0L would rape my old WRX threw the twisties....and if anyone says a VR6 handles better than a WRX is on crack.

Besides, the OP never said anything about modded suspension or trans. I'm figuring on stock SVT suspension and an open diff.

Thank you. don't get me wrong, I LOVE my SVT. But it's just as important to undestand it's shortcomings as it's attributes. Unfortunately, raw power isn't one of them (your's is an exception, lol :) )
