i've got a mechanical oil pressure guage. and i watch it and the other guages religiously.




and it wasnt the fault of the car the whole time. the last one popped because the rear blowback vent hose on top of the valvecovers came off while in boost. i didnt have an A/F guage then. its just my luck:cry:. thats my point really. i will try once more. thanx for the tips y'all:).

Julian,

Do all the proven modifications to the 3L block such as the clevite bearings, etc. Run a good oil cooler. Then run a thicker multi-weight oil.
In vegas I'd run a 20w50 in summer and a 10w40 in winter.

thanx tom. how do i improve my oil cooler? i didnt know we could do that to our cars. in the summer, i run 10w40, i stay stock 5w30 in the winter. wouldnt 10w40 starve the turbo when its real cold out?
 
For a turbo car in Vegas heat, an additional add-on oil cooler is a great idea.
I also would run a good synthetic 20/50 oil in the summer.
Turbo motors make a ton of heat and you need the extra oil protection.

you do know theres a place on the tensioner to put a half inch drive to pull it back right?? I know before i found that i was cussing like hell cause i couldnt pry it back far enough lol

When the car is in the garage there is 4ft out in front of it, 1.5ft on each side. The hoist just about hit the ceiling trying to get the motor in and out. There is no lights, and the outlet at the garage door opener only. Some of us have it easy. I was very happy to get a text last night that its running. Once again Congrats! It is well earned. Now go play.....safe.
