3l turbo bottle neck???

Backed up exhaust will raise your EGT's and will also creating more cylinder heat which can definitely create alot of stress on your headgaskets. Now how much is the question but you want the air to keep moving out the rear and the further you go the gas needs space to expand as it reaches the rear of the car. The only place you want backpressure is between the heads and the turbine wheel but of course just low levels.

If BadSVT would get me the raw data from the dynojet I could overlap the two cars to see how much exhaust makes a difference. Joey

I was thinking of doing a test on the dyno with the local Mustang club next month. I am thinking of doing a couple pulls, then dropping my exhaust for a couple more pulls, just to see how much restriction is in my Borla cat-back and Magnaflow cat. Should I drop it at the turbine outlet itself or after the downpipe? Honestly, I haven't thought much about it yet.

if ur downpipe is large enough, that is same size or larger than the turbine outlet, i dont think it'll make much of a difference.

Agreed. Not to mention, without a downpipe on the turbo, what is the exhaust going to be dumping onto?

if its the NPG kit the ac accumulator and the radiator/core support.

plus the waste gate would then be open also ... and it would be a pita to re-install after ...

shouldn't matter if the wastegate is open on the down pipe, so long as it stays closed on the up pipe until opened by the preset boost pressure.

but i agree that removing the downpipe would be a headache and more trouble than simply dropping the exhaust after the pipe.
