No.. I was saying that EITHER will win against your car.. where's the comparison of an SVT vs. an ION? I compared your car to an ION and then you compared it to an SVT..
NOW I am saying that reading comprehension is a good tool to develop..
Don't get so hung up on why its a bad thing that your car is slower than car x.. WHO CARES.. don't mod it to beat a car.. mod it to make you smile. There's always a faster car than you.. and there's always someone who will not like your choice.. when you can move further than caring about their opinions personally, then you'll be in a place to care about your own opinions completely.
also, as for why I have one? its not stock.. but its also irrelevant.

04 Saturn ION 2, 2.2 ecotec, 5 speed, manual windows, power door locks, no cruz control, no power mirrors, no power seats, basically the only thing power is the locks. its rolling on 15" steel wheels, and he also has a set of 18" rims for it too.
all work done to car was done by me, with a little help with the exhaust, it has an AEM CAI and Thermal cat back exhaust.

i still dont understand why anyone would race a 95 mystique. let alone put even more money into one. im being totally honest when i tell you to STOP PUTTING MONEY INTO THAT CAR. save up and buy something quicker with a vast assortment of aftermarket parts. you can spend less money on say a 96 civic hatch. put about 2 grand into it, and blow that saturn out of the sky

hey 95. here's the truth... a slightly modified 95mystique will earn u compliments from little or no one. at the end of the day, its about modding a car to ur taste. it seems to me u really like this car of urs and are satisfied with it. the rest of us will just have to come to terms with that. problem is... it's quite hard to do so:laugh:
if you want to mod you car go for it. but as other have noted its because you want to do it, not just to beat another car. honestly when I was 18 and got my 95 mystique I wanted to mod it after finding CEG. my father suggested that I shouldn't and I never did other then a few small things, some lights and audio. honestly it was the better choice. now after 122k I still drive it everyday, get above 25 mpg and sometimes feel more comfortable or in sync with the car then my SVT or SeVT. Not modding it let me save money awhile longer which is important and then go crazy with my SE turning it into a SeVT-T....

LMAO! I think this pretty much sums up this entire thread. 2 pages of people debating a 95 Mystique vs. 04 Saturn ION, and the OP thinking that power locks and windows will make a difference in the race.
Personally, I'd just line them up on the street. There's a good chance that other cars will be passing you with normal acceleration. Then, you too can feel like a douche. :laugh:

I have a lightly modded 99 zetec. I know it slow compared to most but it makes me happy and sometimes i get to beat it around a track(a not a drag strip). But in the end no one else likes and and its slow. But for me, its enough to make me happy.

the reason i'm modding the car is to be different. Has ANYONE done up a pre98 'Stique nicely? not saying mines nice, but i wanna work on the performance end of it first. i know 17.3 isnt the best, but i'm shooting for mid 16's for the summer. i now thats not much either, but i want to keep the car streetable considering i drive it 90miles a day going to school and back, so the 37 MPG is nice. ( i drive like an old lady), but i want to be able to have a little bit of fun with it when i'm allowed to. i cant afford another car, nor do i want to do up some little rice burner. i like to be different. i mean, look in my sig. my 89 Tempo. i took a car that was strictly made to be a family car and turned it into a somewhat good looking DD that performed much better than it did stock. going from a 0-60 time of 9.5 from a 13.5 and a 0-85 time of 17.9 over the stock 20 some odd seconds. and in my opinion, it looked pretty good too. i know the Mystique is an ugly chamainge color, and it has steel wheels, and you guys dont like the spoiler, but i do. i do hate the steel wheels and color though, but thats the least thing im worried about. i'm looking to have some fun with the car now and maybe later turn it into something like striker. Sure he may not have taken as long to get into modding the car, and he didnt talk about racing all the time, but i like to hear the GOOD ideas from some of you guys, and the racing, thats what i love to do, although its in a family car.

People really intend to convey that you just gotta get your feet wet and look around for a while. Experienced people on here will JUMP to help you when you're halfway into your engine and you can't figure something out. It shows progress, instead of the 'I'm getting cams in 14 months' false promise and the like.
