I have a sealed box with 2 10" subs. Should the subs be facing into the back seat or out towards the trunk?

*sigh*

why can't you just read the VERY RECENT discussion on this subject (http://www.contour.org/ceg-vb/showthread.php?t=31558), where I said:

It really is nice that people give their opinions, but the only correct answer is which way sounds best to you, with your particular equipment. If you have the capability to spin/rotate your enclosure, then do so and try several different configurations. Pick the one that sounds best to you and stay with it. Feel free to share what you find in case someone else has the same equipment/box/install/musical taste as you and all will be good.

If you don't have the ability to spin/rotate your enclosure, what does it matter if another configuration may sound better? You can't change yours anyway.....

I am sorry I dont have time to read EVERY thread:rolleyes:. This is the most uptight and unfriendly board I frequent. I see moderators and regulars constantly trashing anyone who asks a question that may have been asked before. As for you, THETACH-whatever:ponder:, kiss my:censored:. You dont know me. You dont know what my work and family obligations are!! I thought I would find help in the community in which I belong to because of the car I chose to drive. Seriously, sorry I offended all of you with a question.

This does'nt look like much of an answer to me?! I was hoping for more than one opinion, but I guess you are the all-knowing expert:rolleyes:

It's a perfect answer. Sound can be quite subjective when opinions are based on one's own hearing and when you ask people your question, someone will say "pointed away sounds best" and then someone else will go "no way brah, pointed at the seats is way better." Then you are left where you started. The only way you'll know what sounds better is if you can try both and decide yourself! And just like what was written, if you can't go about moving them, who cares?

your right, i dont know you. but i do know how easy it is to use the search function...

I did search this issue. I did'nt like what I read and wanted another opinion. I did'nt asked to be called lazy:shrug:. If you did'nt have a different answer, then maybe you should have stayed out of the thread all together. Did'nt your mother teach you "If you don't have something nice to say, then say nothing at all."

If you don't like others opinions get off your ass and figure it out yourself. You don't post a thread and get a reply that basically posts a thread asking the same exact question with other peoples replys then post ignorant replies because people don't tell you exactly what to do.

If you'd take the time to read (which you said you have, but I doubt you have) you'd understand not every setup will sound great with a certain position, Try it out for yourself, don't expect everyone to solve your problem.

Just remember, if you're going to act like a dick when people reply you won't get much help on this forum. Or any, for that matter.

You dont know me.

This is the worst argument ever. It's used by 13 year old sluts and chicks that need to figure out who the father of their baby is for 7th time on The Maury Show.

You need to sit in YOUR car and face the subs in different positions and figure out what YOU like best.

If this answer is insufficient, there are many forums dedicated to car audio and they might be more, or less, friendly to your query.

I bet every question someone has, has probably been asked before. Therefore why post any question ever again on the internet?? I guess no one ever comes up with a new answer or suggestion. We should all just Google everything. And for those who have a new idea, don't post it, its already been done. My only real issue was with the "a"hole who had nothing to add but to call someone lazy.

its really hard to defend yourself from being called lazy when the question you asked was answered in the 8th thread from the top of the forum. if it offends you, try the search button first. sometimes it wont help but in cases like this, it will. lets just let this go, and move on. internet fights and sad and pointless.

ugh. totally agree. and i'm a member/have been a member of sooooo many forums.
but yeah it is personal taste i think. I was told to face the subs away from the seats, but personally I think it sounded better when I had it facing up towards the trunk lid, so I left it like that.

Thanks twang. I am gonna stop this now. I appreciate everyones effort to answer the question. This is the first time I have ever been in a squabble on the net. I apologize for that.

Screw you Ethan! Go cut a hole in your speaker cone, stick your penis in, and play 15hz test tones at full volume, while screaming "SHIVA!"

that quote wasn't directed towards you. but anyways, that sounds really fun. you always have the best ideas....

Wow. Amazing how much the Contour community comes together.

I know that with some Honda Accords are designed to quiet the ride by making the bass frequencies (road noise) quieter. The only way to get around it was to face the subs towards the rear.

So, it is a very legitimate question. From what I've researched, a lot of people face them forward. The old 98 Contour that won a lot of SQ awards had his facing forward.

Yes, having a box that you can face either way and do a subjective test is the best, but what about when you are in the designing phase of your sub design? You want to hear other peoples experiences, not just a smart ass open answer.

I am personally designing mine to face rearward, only for the fact that my 96 doesn't have a backseat that folds down. So, I want to be able to change the subs or work on the system a bit easier. Hopefully, I can get some great sound out of it. And I hope it sounds better. It's going to be a big hit or miss. If it doesn't sound right, I'm going to have to redesign and rebuild the sub box.

Come on, guys. You are trying to build a great, friendly community here. Bring in more traffic by being friendly, helpful, and welcome. :)

i was going to post my opinion on the reactions in here but im going to leave it alone. some of the stuff in here should have just been left unsaid as well. to the op though. everyones opinion is different so your ears are the only opinion that matters. Do what sounds the best to you
