yup

Agreed. I voted No for that.

Barely! Hopefully the lead grows after the recount

We've got this nutjob liberal governor here in Massachusetts who set up a budget based on the passing of a bill to allow casinos -- the last thing we need. Thankfully, they didn't pass.

However, dog tracks, which have been around forever and haven't caused any problems, just got banned by last night's ballot question three. Idiots around here are talking about how they celebrated with their dogs. Celebrated what? All these people being out of work, their businesses gone?

Casinos rock.....Mn has a just a couple of them. Their Buffets are the best. But they act as their own sovereign nation, and they only have to give a portion to the state.

I have yet to see one person who voted yes for this thing.
Maybe you just don't associate with people in that line of thinking  Have you asked anyone who drives a prius? If I had to guess I'd say the majority of the votes came from urban areas. :(

Dog tracks? What do you mean?

i couldn't believe that passed.
stoopid people.
greyhounds have a good life as a race dog, a friend of mine worked at a track through college and i would hang out there now and then.
the dogs have decent quarters, get fed and cleaned and all they have to do is chase a rabbit every night.
then they get adopted when they are too old to race. the dogs were never forced into the starting gate, they pretty much ran in there on their own.

and as Jared said, now fewer jobs.

i am surprised they didn't go after horse racing...the horses get whipped to run faster and put down if they get injured.

People vote on emotions and not logic. "those poor animals, they shouldn't have to do that...." "oh we are helping the environment and all the animals...." when in fact all they are doing is making people lose their jobs and increase taxes for pork barrel projects. I even read an post from a guy in the Twin Cities saying that since everything is going up in price because of inflation, we need to increase our tax percentage to keep up. It is a freakin' % your moron....it adjusts to the cost of the goods one is buying. :nonono: It is retards like that, stuff like these are past.

dog racing......woof

Gotcha, I didn't know it was racing. One of my dad's friends (dog breeder and trainer who I got my pup from) does field trials with dogs in ND and TX. I know from past dogs we've had, there is nothing they enjoyed more than going hunting. :) I imagine race dogs would behave similarly with their racing.

Right on, man. I'm fed up with liberal interference and the erosion of liberty.

I have an idea for a meet...

Casinos have all but destroyed my area of CT. I'm about 20 mins from 2 of the 3 biggest casinos in the world (Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods), and I've watched my surrounding deteriorate since their inceptions.

Bankrupcy(sp???)-UP
Crime-UP
Standard of Living-DOWN
Ghettos-UP

It's all relative. People gamble thier money away, steal to get more, blow it in casinos, file bankrupcy, and the tax payers (they're supposed to be one of us, but they don't pay their taxes) pay for their welfare.

Plus, the riff-raff moves in as they fill up the thousands of min. wage jobs that a casino brings in and then they have 1,000 kids each out of wedlock. AS this happens, the population rises, schools get crouded, and the "need" for welfare rises more yet. It's craziness.

This is a very cogent set of observations. Even more impressive coming from a young person. Well said.

I liked this quote from the manager of the Greyhound Park:

The general manager of Raynham Park is still in shock over the passage last night of a ballot question to ban greyhound racing.

"I’m still reeling from the fact that 653 employees who did nothing wrong will lose their jobs because a cult deceived the public," said Gary Temple.

It's absolute craziness! Will there be any sort of financial package provided by the Mass. state gov't, or will they just let hundreds of workers hang out to dry?

Other than the usual government programs, I'm not aware of any special dispensation.

There was no need to close down these places. They were not beating the dogs, and don't create the problems in the community that casinos do. I view the two as very different animals, if you'll pardon the pun. Seems the left isn't happy unless it's taking freedom away.

The Casino near where I live, has nothing but over min wage jobs....by quite a bit. It has been a good economic provider for the area. A good amount of other places have popped up shops etc near there because of it.

Although I become more and more moderate as the days o by (I don't like where EITHER of the major parties is going), I'd say that your last statement is worth respectfully disagreeing with. After all, the rights of gays, women, and minorities were won by the left side of the spectrum

Any of you ever been to Fogo De Chao in Minneapolis? If you like steak or just meat in general check it out. I've never seen so much meat. Basically it's a huge buffet. You get up to get your salad or wussy foods. The servers carry around huge chunks of meet on skewers and you have a two sided disk. If you have the green side of the disk up they bring you meat and cut slices off for you. If you have the red side up that means you don't want anything at the moment. They have 11 or 12 different types of meat that they bring around.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE that place - best food/expirence I've ever had at a restaurant. They mix some killer drinks as well - my entire family went there and partied for a few hours, fun place. I plan on taking my girlfriend there for our anniversary...
