Well, you see, when you know things, you won't have to start a new thread... that someone has already asked the exact same thing as you? and typically you can find your answer ( by the power of search. ) faster than someone will reply to your thread! How do you search? There a two places. Contour.org has been revised over the years. and some data/links have been lost. So there is a forum with archives. this archive covers posts at the beginning of CEG to around 2006.

E0 is what CEG'ers refer to as 'Edition 0' E1 'Edition 1'
Ford made slight variations between the 98 year, hence the e0 vs e1
things include:

E1 98.5+ SVT Cobra style wheels
Smaller brakes for 98.5+
2 bolt control arms vs E0 4 bolt.
e1 Changed to warpy Dashboard.
E1 Better engine/injector harness.
e0 harness had recall many years ago, the harness WILL crack/short.
Half way-ish through 99 changed from return fuel system to return less/Ev6 (green injectors)

195hp vs 200hp

The 5 extra horsepower is a result of:
- later heads being ported, early not
- later heads have a revised/added intake port hone
- .25 compression ratio increase in later years

Rick Miller from Extrude Hone also confirmed that the UIMs from all model year SVTs are the same.

Modding My contour:
The aftermarket is much more limited (compared to civic/mustang/wrx ect.)
but it does exist.

If you do not have a SVT a good place to start is by using SVT parts exhaust UIM/LIM TB ect. Cannot use SVT injectors( or bigger ) without a tune! The stock 17lb's will hold fine till stock svt power and then some.

Optimizing stock y pipe, Link (CEGers think this is a DIY mod - it's not (in most cases). You will have to take the y-pipe to someone who can perform the optimization.)
Removing/replacing stock resonator. It's restrictive. (see exhaust section - link me)
Short ram intake MAF adapter + Filter K&N RU-3530 is the most recommended
Optimizing TB
Shifter.
B&M Steeda are the popular brands, some other brands people have had issues with the 'ball' breaking off while driving.

Mods that are malarkey, waste your money and snake oil.
e3 sparkplugs/bosch +2/3/4 Don't add "better" spark. While they might work fine, they won't 'increase' HP
Ebaymods - Electric supercharger/Cheap resistors, chips, modules that claim "good for 20+hp!"
Vortec/tornado spiral do-dads things you stick in your intake.


Mondeo parts - While they might look alot alike, the exteriors are fairly different. No the headlights wont work.
Some interior parts work, along with suspension and engine.

Can i swap my ATX to a MTX? Can i swap my Zetec to a v6 or 3.0?
Yes. neither are "drop in." You need a good helping of parts to complete the swaps, and it IS easier to buy a car already with what you want in it.

199x-2000 Found in Sables/Tauruses
'Split port' come with 21-24lb injectors Have a different water pump system, to use you would need to use a
electric water pump which is $$$ on top of standard 3.0 modifications. It's better to stick with the newer engines.



2001-2003 Found in Sables/Taurus/Escape 'Oval port' 24 lb injectors, Escape 'Thin style' Timing cover.

2004-2005 found in Sables/Taurus/Escaoe Mariner/MPV 'Oval port'24lb injectors Revised cooling system (larger) Escape/Mariner/MPV 3.0's has timing cover usable. (easier to swap cost More typically)

How do i swap a 3.0?
Search, there are several build threads. Read through all of them, and all of your questions will likely be answered.


Engines that are not 'direct' swappable:

2000+ Jaguar/Mazda 6/Fusion 3.0L Has VVT so it is NOT a direct swap. The block should be the same, but your going to pay more for this engine.

SHO MOTOR = NOT SWAPPABLE.

OT THE NEW ONE. NOT THE OLD ONE. NOT THE V6. NOT THE V8 . NOT ANY OF THEM COMING OUT IN THE NEXT 10 BILLION YEARS

You will make more power and save your self time and money swapping a 3.0 if your doing motor pulling. If you got unlimited money, go crazy. No one has done it before ( to CEG knowledge ) or attempted any other motor than the Duratec v6's. You are on your own.
 
What i did was make 1 page... providing tons of links that read. Where to buy parts? Bolt on parts? Custom Parts? How many svt's are out there? Can i swap a 3.0L engine in my car? etcetc
Then i have another page that answers the questions on each one of those subjects. That way it wasn't soo cluttered ...(no offense) like you did. And every other sticky.

We have 4 colors, Red, Silver Black and Green, Certain years had tan or blue interior.

What type of Bolt on items are for this car?
Pulleys, headers, intakes, intake manifolds, exhaust, throttle bodies etc etc

Where can i buy performance parts for my car?

You get the idea. :) Done a lot of work for this crap.
