The 'Tour... A Lost Cause?

Contours are awesome in bad weather. My 95 (RIP) was a winter warrior, even with ABS disabled.

I like driving a Contour because it shows that I don't have anything to overcompensate for. ;) On the other hand, I just assume everyone in a 500hp Mustang has small balls.

For ur information, i was at a car show last saturday. i got more looks and stares than a scantily clad pam anderson on hollywood blvd. not ONE person walkd over to the row of STIs and RSXs parked next to me. if u wanna be just another person with an STI, then go ahead n get one.

I feel you on that when people see a modified contour there like man i didnt think anybody was doing anything to those....

To everyone out there tuning or modifying a contour welcome to being different than everybody else.

lol, I have noticed that I number of people walk right past either of my cars when at a show. but there are other that stop and do a double take, etc and seriously check the car(s) over.

I sold a low mileage Mustang GT with a Roush kit and supercharger on it for a super low mileage SVTC and given the choice would do it again in a heart beat. Every once in a while I miss the stang when I'm on a straight away, but speed is not everything (I bought a bike for my speed problem ). The rare time I do pull the SVT out of the garage I always have people asking me about it or giving me thumbs up. They are unique cars, and no matter what anyone says they are my favorite "affordable" car EVER!

BAD SVT, check that car and driver comparison again... you'll find that the viper flat out handed the GT-R its ass in almost all performance categories.

thats cos the comparison was with a HIGHLY modded viper. a highly modified GTR will do the same. besides, car n driver used a watered down version of the gtr. check the edmunds link.

wait.. even stock for stock.. What's the price difference for the Viper and the GT-R?

I'd hope one would dominate the other for the difference.

thats what i said. the viper ACR has over 100horses on the gtr, yet it's still right there with it. a regular viper on the other hand will get beat. take it or leave it!

yeah, but how many hard launches will the gt-r tranny be able to handle....its been shown to be pretty weak.

The biggest difference between the acr and gtr isn't 100 hp. The biggest difference is that the gtr has bridgstone RE-70 run flat street tires, and the acr has pilot sport cup r compound tires. If the gtr was wearing proper tires, it would be about even on a lot of those test. I still think the acr is cooler though.

FWD sucks as a racing platform, simple as that.

If you want a fast car it has to be AWD or RWD.

How much fun is it losing traction in 1st-3rd in a contour anyways (weee... i can waste tires...). Now smoking the tires off or a RWD car, its badass.

plenty of FWD cars running 10's/11's, the contour just isn't one of them.

hmm sounds familiar.....now i just need a street bike and we can tell the same tale

Investment? What car really is, unless you're looking for a GT500 Mustang or a 1970 Olds 442? Do it for love, not for money.

Best post of this thread.

Burrita, Ryan, and Brapple all made good points. From anywhere above 30 MPH, even a turbo car with less than 300 HP (245 @ the time? Correct me if I'm wrong...) is QUICK even at 1/2 throttle.
Did we even have to begin talking about lateral grip? This car is a rockstar in the twisties, and outhandles Audis and BMWs. I believe it was Edmaunds.com who said it was the best handling sedan in America. That says alot:shrug:
