Any interest to have a 1-day regional super meet here in Central Illinois...
Or, perhaps a 2-day?

Distances from locations in various directions:
150 miles from Chicago
130 miles from Rockford
200 miles from Madison
100 miles from Quad Cities
170 miles from St Louis
210 miles from Indianapolis

For the 1-day option...
We could head to the local All-Ford car show on Sunday Sept 14 to give us a place to hang out with other Ford enthusiasts. Trolls could also come and hang out, but just can't enter their non-ford vehicles in the show. We could then head to the Hooters on the Peoria Riverfront for an early supper.

I have been to this show a couple times the past few years and it usually has a lot of cars (usually 150+, has been over 200 at least once). There is also an SVT Contour/SVT Focus class which is nice to have. Trophies usually are done by around 3:00.

Or, if people would rather do a 2-day weekend thing to justify the longer trip, there is supposed to be a Peoria Fireman’s “Fire on the River” Super Cruise on Saturday evening from 5-10pm in Peoria. I could check on other activities in the area for Saturday as well if there is an interest, along with rooms for the night. (There is a brand new Sleep Inn close to my house...)

Any thoughts???
 
I'll mark it on my calendar, not sure I'll make it, but it will definitely be on the calendar

Basically the entry fee is $12 if you register before 9/1, $15 the day of the show. Registration is 8:00 - 11:30 and the show is over about 3:00.

There are door prizes announced throughout the day, plus everyone who enters the show is in the drawing to give away an old fashioned Ford Sales & Service gas pump.

There is also a raffle to win a 1965 Mustang GT (drawing on December 6, 2008). The benefits go to Childrens Hospital of Illinois. Tickets are $10, but if you pre-register for the car show by 9/1 you can get the show entry and raffle ticket for $20. See the car at www.winagtmustang.com


I don't know if people want to come the night before, but if you do, here are a few options....

This is the Sleep Inn close to my house, and is not far from the car show (less than 10 minute drive). Sleep Inn
When I looked for the 13th, there were 2 rooms left with a king bed for $85 and 1 room with two double beds for $90. They also have king bed suites for $100 but it didn't say how many.

The show flyer also mentions its host hotels are:
Stoney Creek Inn (Great place!! closest one to the show)- Stoney Creek Inn (nightly undiscounted rates start at $109)
Hampton Inn (next to the Par-A-Dice riverboat casino) - Hampton Inn (nightly undiscounted rates start at $120)

Ok... so lets summarize....

So at this point I don't think there is enough interest to call it a "super meet" or anything since I'm not seeing any nibbles from the St Louis, Indy or Iowa crowd (I hope I am wrong... there are still 3 weeks to go). But I definitely hope you guys still want to come to the car show and we can hang out and then go eat afterward.

The usual practice at this car show has been to line cars up as they come in, so the arrival order dictates where you will be. We can coordinate our arrival so we can park together and hang out at the show, no problem.
 
i was reading this and it is a few weeks off. i come to champagne/urbana from KC about every 6 weeks to see my girl. U of I :D wish i could come to represent KC but it is on an odd weekend :(
 
I wish I had some friends that know contours and don't charge me $ to help, that would come to my house and help me finish my 3L, then I would have it done for sure.

I offered to help, but then again the project might be set back two months if I get involved. :)
 
I dont know if I will be in attendance anymore, my car got into a little accident over the weekend and I dont know if it will be done at the body shop before this meet...:shrug:
