contour svt vs srt-4

Seriously...there is nothing more humbling than to be thrown somewhere to live and not know the language...then be treated because of it.

That's how I felt when I moved to Argentina and i lived there a couple years. Respect him for learning the language!!!!

how the **** am i supposed to know that english is his second language??? oh... i'm not. he's on an english speaking board, these types of comments shoundn't bother him. unbunch your collective panties.

Dude i am going through your mods and you have 3L, headers, y-pipe, chip and so on... You should be beating the crap out that POS srt 4 :)
Maybe the track you ran on was a bit slow, I am thinking that because my 1/8 mile run is a bit slower than yours 9.967, but my car is preaty much stock (no resonator and ford racing spark-plug wires lol). The car sounds fine, a bit raspy aint it... i guess you have take out the resonator aswell, sounds alot like mine.

You people forget he's down in the desert. BIG difference in track times from there to further north or east.
I've raced at the tracks in AZ and in Texas, and the difference in temp and altitude is worth a full second in 1/4 mile time when comparing same car with same mods and same time of year.

I wasn't referring to your post. I know you can't know that...it was the post after it was made known it wasn't his first language, that continued somewhat of a demaning tone...

I don't have anything bunched

No. He should be running faster and getting better 60 foots but without DRs, he'd have a hard time beating a srt4. Not saying it can't be done, but it would have to be a very strong 3L with other mods and a real good run.

Well I guess if the srt 4 does not run with DRs the the CSVT should not run with DRs. If one of them is running on DRs then its not much of a challenge is it? The SRT 05 comes 220 hp and 245 ft-lbs trq. With the mods that he has done he should be easily around 260 hp and 210-220 trq i guess.

I didn't say the srt4 would have DRs. It can have its stock 205 wide tires and a contour can have 225 good street tires.
SRT4s are very underrated. They'll put what they're rated to the wheels, sometimes more and make a lot better use of it than a contour.
And I don't know what his contour makes, could be pretty low considering he said it's not tuned good. But even your estimated 260hp would not be to the wheels.
Also, the srt4 he raced was modded. I'm guessing a minimum of 250whp and maybe as much as 290-300whp depending on his exact mods.
Though there is a lot more to racing than power numbers. When it comes to contours, they don't get traction easily. Srt4s hook up better than contours. A stock srt4 can run a 13.9 in the 1/4. Most n/a 3L contours can't get out of the 14s on normal street tires.

Something else to consider with that is that a car with EXCELLENT traction from a launch that runs mid 13's is nowhere NEAR as powerful as a car with the worst launch EVER that still runs mid 13's.

The only time it will dominate is a standing launch like that.. (not actually referring to any car in this thread, just "cars" in general)

lol. in the first vid it almost looks like his exhaust is falling off. nonetheless, it keeps with srt-4's nicely. i'd like to think i can launch hard, as i launched on a 04 mach1 that runs 12's on nitto D/R's and i was on 205 series street tires~! of course i juiced the hell out of it but that's beside the point. one thing i was wondering about, as far as launching goes, maybe someone can answer this question:

first i'll explain by saying i watched a buddy drive my car into the shop to get new tires, and i was looking at the front wheels when he released the clutch. the lower control arm is rubber mounted which seems to be very soft. when he released the clutch the car moved about 1.5 inches before the tire did. i understand this is to absorb driveline shock, but it seems to be a large factor in inducing wheel hop. if i were to solid mount (tubular a arms) this would it have a drastic effect on the driveline (will it fall apart faster, lol) or if i were to fabricate some sort of traction bar mounted at an angle and connected with poly between to decrease the amount the wheel can move before it stops. hopefully someone will understand what i'm trying to explain, it looks liek the wheel moves backward when you engage the car forward...... and it's quite a bit, seems to be much more than it needs be....
