Name change

When I think of "Fiesta" I think of a POS deathtrap... They should have stuck with "Verve"...

C'mon now -- the Fiesta was the "Wundercar" from Germany as the Seventies gave way to the Eighties.

I think Ford is on the right track starting to keep names the same and possible bring more euro cars to the states. It seems like ford can design great cars but is incapable of bringing them over seas.

I am currently in Europe and am awstruck with all the nice fords. From the just way better looking Focus (and they have no crappy 2 door) and the amazing Mondeos (wagon and saloon) to the Focus C-Max (think Focus minivan if your not familular). I have ridden in all these cars as my coworkers have them and they are so nice. They are all so nice and so popular it makes you think if they made these cars aval in the US would it help their sales?

Anyways just my two cents. O and like every car here is diesel.

couldn't agree more, part of it also is the fact that Ford cars over seas aren't built by idiots.

but the designs, the overall build quality of the car is better in ten fold. I REALLY think that Ford needs to bring one of their I4 diesel motors to the states, put it in the focus and advertise it to get 40 mpg city, people will go ape:censored::censored::censored::censored: over that.

I actually expected GM to do this with the Astra, bring it over with the 1.8L I4 Petrol motor or have an optional Diesel (since they already make it with a diesel over seas). Seems like an awesome idea, everybody is crying that hybrids are the way to go, and there has been more fuel efficient technology available for... Decades, and with the way technology is moving its in all probability just as good for the environment as a hybrid car, if not better.

I had a 78 Fiesta and it was fun! Had Ansa exhaust, Kamei splitter (still have it) Jensen stereo and a RED Monochrome paintjob ( it was the style)..............

Only complaint was the 12" wheels hard to find tires ( I used hungarian made cheapies) and a screw keep falling out of the Carb sticking it WFO (very exciting) I finally had the brilliant idea to Loctite it (Problem Solved).

And the best part in about 87 I traded it for a 85 Escort HO 5 spd (which also got the Kamei and Ansa treatment)

The Fiesta is Dead long live the Fiesta!

.

It is the fact that they pay more for a car that is built with better quality parts and the cars are designed better.

People over here who buy cars are the idiots. if they stop buying, as jeremy clarkson would put it, rubbish...then we would get better cars as well. But people want "cheaper" cars. Look how many cavs, sunfires, neons, escorts etc are out there.

The US demands cheaper cars because for the vast majority of people it is required for our lifestyle.

You could go to Europe and buy a 30k Mondeo or you could just buy a BMW here.

Hey i wouldn't mind this interior

But i read we were only getting the sedan and not the 3-door. Either way long live the Fiesta:laugh:

I was thinking more of the early 90's American model
That would be the "Festiva" ... and I'm certain you won't be the only one who will confuse the association, namely younger folks who were born in the 80s/90s (1984 here) and never knew of the American Fiesta.

Despite the name being completely different I also think of the Festiva when hearing about the Fiesta.
