a friend of a friend found six black lab pups abandoned in the road. she needs people to take them or she'll have to take them to the pound. i would take one if they didnt grow so big, too big for my place

People just don't realize that the puppies have all been taken care of.
They feel bad for the puppies and keep forwarding the email along without looking into the matter any further.
The next reader just assumes that the person forwarding it is talking about a friend of theirs.

Yeah, I got that part. It's just that these people are all over the United States, not just in one area. I wouldn't send an email to friends on the east coast if the puppies were located here in California. That's all I meant by my question.
