Why is it that my car cannot ever have a straightforward problem.

So I was getting a code p0402 i.e. too much EGR flow. So I hook up my livelink and try to monitor the EGR valve and the DPFE. After some typical driving I notice that I am not getting an DPFE voltage whatsoever!

I go to the dealership and get a new DPFE. Hook it up in under 10 minutes.

Drive around datalogging and still NO voltage reading from the DPFE.

So for now I have completely turned off the EGR system and plugged it all up.

The car drives a BILLION times better. More power too

I haven't bothered to check to see if there was/is a fuse for the DPFE, but if anyone knows of there being one please hit me up. My Chilton's is MIA.

It's an 03 3L. I used the stock SE wiring harness with my kkt4 ECU. I retained the 99 2.5L DPFE. I have the newer 3L DPFE sitting in my garage, but I would need to splice a new connector into the harness. I have a feeling the wires are partially melted or something along those lines. I really didn't have time to look. I don't have emissions to worry about, but it still pains me to know that I am cutting corners.

The hot idle for 2.5 L DPFE is 0.2 to 1.3 V (acceptable range). The hot idle for 3L DPFE is 0.95 to 1.05 V (acceptable range). For all you know, the 2.5 L DPFE could be sending a 0.2 V signal to the ECU and the ECU is expecting something in the 0.95 to 1.05 range.

I think you need to use the 3L DPFE. And now would be a good time if you think the wires for the 2.5 L DPFE is partially melted.

WHOA! that's like exactly what i'm going through right now.... What 3L set up do you have? I was getting a 402 and a 401 of and on for a while, replaced the DPFE. Still have 0.0 volts reading when i'm datalogging.... Did you experience almost like a pinging in yours? Sounds like its coming from the motor, almost sounds like its coming from the intake. I don't know what it is. My car runs a little rough, haven't gone to eliminating the EGR but close...

Let me know if you find anything :)
