Who swaps a 2.5L for a 2.5L anymore?

Luckily the owner wasn't as bad as he could've been. He really only messed up the things he touched, and left the rest to better mechanics :) I've fixed a lot of things, but they could've been even worse had he attempted some sort of hack job fix.

Still have no actual pictures of the car though. Haven't washed it since I bought it and when I do get some time to wash it I plan on giving it an entire claybar/wax job as well. Car is a 99' MTX Coug with 115k miles. Two years of its life spent in Texas, five years spent in Illinois, now it will spend some in Minnesota.
 
My 2.5 in my SVT went this past winter and I bought another 2.5 and put it in. So yeah, some people still do a 2.5 for a 2.5.

At 160,000 miles on my engine it looked as clean inside as your new engine, well maybe not the spun bearing, small problem. Got to love Mobil 1.

Ok, sorry Todd.

I have to add something to my other post.

Todd and I put in a 2.5L engine in my car that already had a 2.5 in it.
If it wasn't for Todd's help I don't think the car would be running today.

Is that better Todd?

Odd - I have done some serious heavy braking for some deer...

My battery sits inside of a battery box - it is a pita to pull out because there is barley enough room to get my fingers on the outside of the batt.... The combination of a very tight box (hehe, couldn't resist), battery cables at their maximum length, and the downward/forward force of heaving braking on the front of the car makes me think that I will not suffer that same fate...

Or I could just be crazy :crazy:

If you have barley growing in your engine compartment you need to drive the car more. Seriously though, my car didn't have a hold down when I got it and it had a slightly taller battery than the stock Motorcraft so I was happy that I had the hood liner to keep from shorting out the battery.

LOL - I proofread that quickly multiple times after I fixed all of the spelling mistakes... :troutslap: I also have that liner on my hood - it looks like there are some threaded rods protruding out of the plastic battery box. All I would have to do is make a piece of metal to fit across the battery and find some proper fasteners to hold it down.

For the record I recently did a 2.5 to 2.5 swap when my wifes car blew up simply b/c I had a perfectly good 2.5 out of my car from my 3L swap.

Thats where my came from as well :cool:

My battery is still jammed with the CAI not with the CIA, I don't know what they'd be doing under your hood :D Though I do have a yellow top tipped on its side (side posts are on top :crazy:)
