Who has a DMD hanging around?

If any one has a DMD for a Duratec and does not plan to use it any time soon, would you mind selling it to me by this Sunday? I figure since we are going to take the serpent belt down for an alternator swap, we *may* be able to put that on.

Thanks!

That's something I might be able to find in the junkyard. If we do it, you'll need a new crank bolt before getting started. The bolt is TTY which is a one time use bolt.

Years ago I had one, put it on and couldn't tell the difference.

Very cool.

I have the 94A PU filled roll resistor. Every time the enginve revs around 2800 - 3200 RPM, my coins in the dash tray will dance to the road noise. I was hoping the DMD can reduce some of that.

For TTY bolts -- can I only get those at Ford?

The way to get rid of the NVH is to go with softer motor mounts.

The DMD wouldn't help much with what you're talking about, IMO.

And the TTY bolt, you can get from Ford only as far as I know.

I agree with that part. The overall harshness can only be remedied with softer mounts. But DMD does help to improve the smoothness over a greater range of RPM so that's why I mentioned I suffered most between 2800 and 3200 RPM.

Maybe it will help. I put one on years ago and couldn't tell any difference at all.

That's one of the reasons why it isn't such a popular mod anymore.

A DMD is a newer version of the crank pulley that Ford put on some cars.

It's supposed to help eliminate vibrations from the crank and extend the life of the motor.

I've had it on before and didn't notice any change whatsoever and there have been many over the years that have had the same experince.

Then there are the few that have said they have felt a difference.

I put one on my 3.0L way back when it was the hot ticket. Even if the DMD does help, its not something you are noticeably going to feel. If it helps, it is going to help in high rpm harmonics. Like Mike said, the harness you have is because you have (more) solid motor/trans mounts now. that's the price you pay for it.

I was looking for this thread!

I have one! The rough middle you asked about is RTV that was never cleaned off! RTV is gasketing that comes out in liquid form.

I didn't notice much but you are welcome to buy mine and try it out.
