Where can you place a floorjack?

Yeah, thats how my parts car is sitting in my garage. The car rocks when you step on it. :laugh:

It's not all that much weight now though since most has been stripped off of it. You can lift the ends of the car up without a jack so it can't be that heavy anymore.

I would never do that with something you're just working on though. I wouldn't even put my foot under it in fear of it getting cut off.

I typically jack the car from the side on the pinch flange with a ~18" long piece of wood to spread the load and prevent damage to the flange. Then I use two stands per side, one under the front subframe at the rear bolt, and the rear stand goes on the pinch flange at the "official" rear jack point. Always make sure the car is stable before crawling under or anything. I will usually give the car a pretty decent shove to unsure it is set well. If there is any indication of movement, I'll reset everything.

I am just going by what craftsman is saying, that even though they are rated for said weight...they aren't designed to have 4 of them supporting the car at one time.
 
You people and your fancy floor jacks, ramps and stands. I just use a bunch of 2x4s when I have to lift my vehicles

i dont understand why you wouldnt put your car on 4 stands. if u saw the stands we put under semi's at school, you'd probably poop your pants. trust me, the stands will hold the car without ANY problems
 
Sorry but does anyone have any pics of this? I am wondering because I'm going to be changing my oil and I need to flush my coolant out and I need to see pics as oppose to writing cause I'm like horrible when it comes to that. I am going to be changing my oil tomorrow...I did it once already and had no idea where to put the jack so I just jacked it up and hoped I lived haha...so yah...hoping I could find some pics to help me out and I can't find anything besides this thread...

If you're just gonna jack up the front end its pretty obvious where you can put a jack under the front. You've got two wide beams where all the suspension bolts up that are plenty wide for a jackstand.
 
After reading what I have posted in this thread YEARS ago I rescind my statement about using the rear hooks. They bend! :laugh: I am however considering having a steel tube welded into the holes in the hooks to give me a nice jacking point for the entire rear of the vehicle.
 
The times I've lifted the rears I actually break out the spare tire jack thats made to fit it the jackpoint and do it that way. I still havent had my subframe connectors put in so thats what I thought would be the most secure way.
 
When doing the rears, I slide my jack under near the point where the jackpoint cover is, and then put a 2x4 in between the plate and the pinch rail, to lift it up.

cool. so then where do you put the jack stands? I did the oil change today and I found out a few bad things. Need a serpentine belt and the fan never kicks on. Sooo...yah...gotta get with my friends on this one to help me out.
 
I set the stands underneath the fat part of the unibody (kinda like the frame rail) just before it curves upward. There are also a couple of pretty well reinforced flat spots near that area.
