Hello all and thankyou so much for your quick responses. Is there a known brand of alternator that works good besides the oem....? btw on another note, while I am most likely dealing with the alternator change, I am on my third wheel bearing on my passenger side. Again the car has only 88k on it and I had to replace the first one at 25k. The last one I put in probably lasted a whole 5-6 months and I am just keeping it in there making noise because I am sick of it!!!!! Do you think the knuckle will need to be replaced due to it causing the bearing to fail so quickly? Anybody with the ame issues? Thanks in advance for great information

yes I would replace the knuckle as it is most likely shot also ... make sure the axle nut gets torqued to 210 ft-lbs otherwise you will have issues ...

And don't forget to get the wheel bearing pressed correctly. NAPA and Stazi (CEGer who sells bearings pressed into knuckles) works well. The dealer works well too (if you get it from them).

if you buy a new knuckle from ford it comes with a bearing already pressed in

If your bearing is failing prematurely, either;

the bearings are all defective
you aren't installing it correctly (hydraulically pressed out and in)
The axle nut on the hub is being re-used
The axle nut isn't being tightened to 208-212 FOOT pounds of torque
or the hub itself is no longer the correct diameter because of the previous failed bearings eating it up.

I'd suggest replacing the hub and bearing together.

Stazi(IIRC?) is a member on here and sells hubs, bearings. If not, check out Steve at Tousley Ford in White Bear Lake, MN (his contact info is in the Duratec Maintenance "read me first" thread, as well. He provides a 10% over cost discount plan!!! EXTREMELY GOOD PRICES!)
