what else can i do to this thing?

I also think the speed 6 uim would be the best, and I'm curious to see some detailed pics of how the lightening airbox looks hooked up in there. I'm also curious why you dont get a k&n drop in for it?

I feel like my K&N'd SVT airbox is pretty restrictive, and quiet to boot.

how does the lightning box sound?

cant have all these ricers running around with cooler sounding intakes :)

[edit] forgot to add, a guy, Maddmike, was telling me about a part number for a GM V8 cat with dual inlets and a single outlet that would allow the fabrication of a cat'd y-pipe that took up the space of the current y-pipe and the test pipe, which seems like it would make equaler lengths possible without such radical bends. I know you dont have a cat, but the general idea seems promissing.

with no cat, a similar idea might be to build two equal length pipes from the header flanges, ending in flex couplers, bolted to flanges welded onto a dual inlet single outlet muffler where the resonator would go. then replace the mufflers at the back of your trubendz with some straight through magna packs. seems like that would even out the exhaust pulse resonence pretty well.

sort of like if the fake duals where half duals, this would be three quarter duals.

speed 6 UIM? um...... speed 6's are a 4 cylinder turbo.

a regular mazda6 manifold is the same as the newest escape manifold, and i hear it doesnt fit worth a damn

my bad, mazda6, I tend to do that...

are you sure about it being an escape manifold? I remember reading a realll old thread where joey was talking about the 6 UIM being better? (might be wrong, idk)

at any rate, I think with no cat, theres probably lots of room for improvement between the headers and the resonator.

how do you pass emissions btw? a friend at the smog shop? ;)

nope, you just gotta live in MN where we haven't had emissions testing in years. LOL.

a cop could still look under my car and see no cat and nail me for it, but its too low. they don't wanna get on the ground to look for one.

Nearly half of the states don't don't have emissions testing.

the smog must be terrible

Yeah, the smog here is terrible. I live in the northern part of the state where everyone who has a truck runs straight pipes....and everyone has a truck or five. I have never even see smog in my whole life. I don't even know what it looks like....if I did see it, I would think, man....what a hazy day they are having.

Does that look like we have a smog problem at all

Fit is not that bad. More CEG 'I hear', you heard it from someone who never tried to make it fit ?

Not bolted down:

It would have probably come down another 1/4". After trimming the mounting tabs on the front and the nipple on the back I could have made it fit. Granted its not a drop in solution, but its not like trying to mount a blower in the valley.

Looks like it won't fit at all with the 04-05 vale covers.

Hrm, let me think....

would I rather have ugly valve covers that do a more effective job of dumping hot hydrocarbon laden gases into my intake tract, or a higher volume intake manifold.....

lemme get back to you on that one

:help:

Oh I know who I'm adding to my friends list next.

Ass

It would be nice to have the 6 intake, but I don't think the 05 stlye is holding my engine back yet.

i was looking closer at a mazda6 manifold today. they are not equal length like the 04/05 taurus ones. plus the opening is different for the drive by wire throttle body so it might be too hard to make a contour setup work. an escape manifold looks the same, but i still think i'm gonna stick with my 05 taurus manifold till i can find a st220 that i can afford.

the mazda6 suits the variable valve timing engine better.

i think the taurus is the closest to the ST220 out of all teh manifolds, however the ST220 is the best hands down.

i'm still convinced the escape UIM and the mazda 6 are the same thing. which is what they are using on the noble engines. it probably has the most overall volume.

sounds like we both have a plan now....

F**K AC, the girls can just take their shirts off if their hot

Hey, that was the main point for me buying the new SVT. Wife was tired of no ac....so I tell her, well it will be cheaper to just buy a new car instead of sinking money into the old one. She said, fine...do it.
