What are the best plugs and wires?

There is alot of people on here that will say to go with Autolite Double plats. or motorcraft double plats. I have Bosch +4 on my SVT, my 94 Probe and I had them on my 96 Tour when I had that also and never had any problems. There are some people that have had problems with the Bosch +4 so it depends on what you want, and I don't remember anyone saying that they have had problems with the Autolite or Motorcraft dbl. plats.

As for wires I have Ford Racing 9mm and love them.

Autolite APP764 is an exact match to what Ford recommended for replacement when that car was new. They work great.

Autolite XP104 most nearly matches the factory plug for 96 and newer. It is a finewire plug. The exact diameter of the finewire as well as the materials of the side wire may not be an exact match, but if anything the Autolite is better.

Autolite is the vendor that makes most of Ford's Motorcraft plugs.

The gap is specified at .052" to .056". My personal preference is to set it at the wide side of spec (.056").

You can't beat the factory Motorcraft wires. If you insist on something else, many have reported that they like Taylor 8.2 Thundervolt wires. They are available in a choice of colors.

I have red Ford Racing 9mm wires on my car and I'm happy with them. They are no longer available, and if they were I could not recommend them because many have reported short life with them.

Others like Autolite wires, and still others like Magnacores (although they have had some complaints lately too).

The AutoLite Pros have been in our 98 for almost 80K miles and are still troublefree. Purchased from Advance Auto for around $75 back then.

Not many people running them, but I've heard ALMOST no complaints on the NGKs. There was a thread in the old forums where somebody said they had trouble with them, but IIRC, his problem was solved with wires so maybe the NGKs were ok there too.

Platinukmms are made for longevity, copper plugs provide better conductivity and spark. The only reason platinums are used is so people can go 100K without changing plugs, tehy are NOT the best for performance. Cheap copper plugs are. I use autolite coppers in my car. Also don't get piece of **** wires. Buy only good brands such as Ford, MSD, Accel, etc.
