my headlights are fogged up really badly. ive tried rubbing compound and some other products but to no avail. ive heard about wet sanding but dont know what the process is... would anyone like to enlighten me on the subject?

I actually sanded on mine this past weekend. I started with 600 grit instead of the 1000 grit recommended by the FAQ since thats all Lowes carried in wet grit sandpaper. It definetely would have helped me if I had some higher grit like 1500 or 2000 to finish it off, instead of trying to completly restore its shine with just 3M fine grit rubbing compound.

i read somewhere that you could also use car clear coat to help keep the headlights clear, but i would know when to you use it. before polish or after.

I started at 440 just cause I was an idiot then worked up to 2000 wet. Then used the plastix stuff, didn't clear coat either. Works pretty well, now every 2-3 washes I just plastix it. Doesn't look bad, just I wish I would take my time.

You would clearcoat before you polish it. You dont want any sort of wax/polish/grease/etc to be on your lights when you apply clearcoat.

got it, lately its been too cold to clear the lenses but so far ive wet sanded from 400-1000. im just waitin for it to warm up a bit more so i can clear coat the lenses and then lightly wet sand with 1000-2000 grit. im also workin on the hightower mod as well. figured that i might as well tear the headlight apart if im goin to take it off the car.
thanks for all the replies, i must say that everyone on this forum is more informative and respectful than the people on my old forum, honda-tech.

also got a quick question about the hightower mod... is it alright to use gloss black instead of flat high temp paint?
