turns out it wasnt the cluch that went on the car, it was the whole transmission. It'll cost a total of around 1800 to get it fixed, so i said forget it. But the good news is that i found a 95 Contour w/ a V6 and 5 speed, 4 wheel disc w/ abs, a/c, power everything, sun roof, SE side skirts, fog lights, lip spoiler and some decent looking 15" rims for just 800 bucks. i drove the car, and it ran half decent, it just had no power on the low end (3000 RPM and lower) any ideas about what that could be? OH the car is also the same color as mine, so i can use mine as a parts car till i have to get rid of it.

yes, the secondaries are not closing. the vacuum selonoid cracked on my fathers which prevented the secondaries from closing. on a 95 there are always open until a vacuum is applied. the diaphram should be fine.

..., it just had no power on the low end (3000 RPM and lower) any ideas about what that could be?...
The early 1995 V6 Duratecs have vacuum operated secondary valves. Chances are the hose to the secondares is either broken, leaking or the "hook" came out causing it to default to open all the time. Check those items. You should see a lever type metal rod under the Throttle body area.

Edit. BrApple got to it first.

i had the car towed somewhere else and got the work done for 1399, used trans, new clutch, pressure plate, and reground the flywheel.

it does include labor, cuz i dont have the time or tools to do that myself right now. and yea, this is just a follow up on another thread.

Why do so many CEGers get suckered into these kind of parts/labor prices? I realize it's pretty average pricing for a shop to do, but if you were smart you would of found the parts for cheaper from CEG sources, then maybe found a local CEGer to help with the repair.

Just towing the car to a local shop guarantees leaving with a huge bill and no actual upgrades done to the car.

I would expect this from anyone OUTSIDE of CEG, but I would hope hanging around here would hook you up with some auto parts and repair connections.

another follow up on the mystique

i got the car back today for 1399.20. the car shifts wonderfully, but i have a few problems w/ the place i took it. the shift boot wasnt put back in place, and i found that one of the tabs was broken off, there was dirt on my floor mats, and the temp gauge doesnt work anymore. Also, the mechanic was talking to my parents and told them that i was beating the :censored::censored::censored::censored: out of the car at the time it happened, and that i messed up the clutch worse than anyone in his shop has ever seen. i saw the clutch, and i personally didnt think it was bad at all, it needed replaced, but that was to the extent of it.

oh, and on my last thread, i forget who posted, but someone said to look for a local CEG'er for help... is there anyone in the Harrisburg/ Lebanon area willing to help w/ cam installation?
