water, water everywhere....

We have power!!!
and to make up for the long day of no power, we are greedily sucking it up, and heating all zones just in case it goes out again. :D

ohhh so happy

imagine, the entire city has power except for your tiny section. such a tease!!!!

My building had power today, but they cancelled work because driving conditions weren't great and most employees had no power at home anyway.
We had a decent breakfast. Unfortunately, the town clerk's office was closed, so Mike couldn't go register the vehicles as originally planned. :( ahh well

I spoke to them briefly via cell but they didn't tell me it was as bad as those pictures.

Pretty much power lines down in every direction from their area. The Malibu ended up with a couple little nicks here and there.

I encountered this while sightseeing a bit in Hooksett.
The GT probably has a few new scratches, no big deal :)

Went up to my parents in Chelmsford on Thursday morning. Woke up at midnight with no electricity. Up most of the night listening to the branches snap from the trees, very eery noice. Everytime we waited for them to fall through the roof. Left Friday night back to CT. Parents were told they wouldnt get power back till Sunday or Monday, yikes. Called today and they were moving all perishables to my sisters house. When traveling home on Mass pike we saw about 40-50 Utility trucks with their yellow lights flashing convoying up to the north. Saw about 20 more on 84.

Will all the bad stuff happening it the world, it was a awesome site seeing all of the utility trucks taking time out of their lives to help someone else. Hope everyone is keeping warm.

Matt

i just finished clearing a bunch of very large branches off the roof of my garage.
i thought i heard a loud bang on Thursday night, but didn't think anything of it.
three of the branches were easily over 100 pounds.

Our friends in southern NH are hearing that it could be FRIDAY before they get power. Other friends just south of Leominster are hearing that it will be Tuesday...either way, it's unbelievable.

Yeah this is definitely the nuttiest thing I've ever seen after such a short storm.
Last night we had our in laws stay over. Brother in law and his fiance on the air mattress and mother/father in law in the spare room.
Full House!

Matt (BIL) heard from people in his town that they could be waiting a couple weeks to get their power back!

somewhat amusing side story - one of our cats for the past few months has been taking a very strong interest in the toilet. One day I let him sit up on the seat and sniff around. He ended up putting a paw in and tried to drink.
haw haw, very cute, ok you can leave now.
Welllllll...one of our guests left the toilet seat up last night :bah: , so I found the cat IN the toilet this morning, just having the time of his life, not even scared.
He jumped out in a hurry thinking he was doing something bad. So I had to chase him and dry him off. lol it's funny but it kinda make me mad.

Close the dang toilet lid, geez!

Today we met with our friends in So. NH for aour annual Christmas party and they heard it could be up to three weeks without power...I can't imagine.

OH, and on our way up, we went thru Holden and Princeton MA and that area was destroyed! Heres the center of town:

I doubt those rumors, though maybe I'm being optimistic. The news sources are saying 7-10 days at max .. and there is federal aid in form of both money and resources (troops).

I just got an email from my parents saying they now have power.

Ryan - those are some intense pictures.

I'm hearing reports of copper wire thefts from downed utility poles in a few NH towns. I guess it's better than Katrina anarchy looting, but still, the idiots aren't helping the situation..

I figured it was only a matter of time. You would not believe how many copper theft cases I'm seeing between thieves hitting neighborhoods that have foreclosures and targeting people on vacation...Scary stuff and I'm affraid it is only going to get worse.

the scrap yard near me now has a sign posted that they required ID when bringing in anything for scrap, and they record what you brought in and keep a copy of your ID.

Crazy pictures! What's the temp. around there been? I'm suprised at how much ice is still on everything.

One of my stepbrothers in the military was just activated on Saturday to help with the cleanup.
