sheesh. can it stop raining already???

just moved into the "new" house a month ago and i now unexpectedly have a wading pool in the front yard and "water feature" in the basement.
FUN!!!

you know the old saying, "they just don't build them like they used to"? well thank goodness for that!!! new houses are water tight and energy efficient!

ok, my rant is over.

disregarding the rant about old stuff sucking..

I got a guilt-free sick day today because there is no power at my work. :)

what the .... I am actually going to be at work for a full day for once. might be close to the first time in almost a year possibly ..... but I do get a few hours of overtime in that ... but I rather be home sleeping.

We had the day off a couple weeks ago because a transformer blew and knocked out a good portion of a grid here in Boston, including power to our building. I turned the boat around and the girl and I went for a drive and out to breakfast. It was glorious.

Full day for once? Do you work for the town or the government?

i drove to manchester this morning for a meeting, took about an hour to get there.
then came back down to chelmsford for more meetings.
its only 11:00 but the day is draggin on.

as for water, i have a very wet basement ans a river flowing through my breezeway.
fun fun

indirectly work for the government.

no I have basically flexible hours. I have to work 40 hours but basically as long as it ok/no one complains I can work those hours how I want. so what I have been doing for some time now is I work 9 hours days monday - thursday, 7 am to 4 pm. So this leaves 4 hours to complete on Friday so thats 7 am - 11 am. Its nice because its like having a 3 day weekend but you are not sleeping in like one might on the weekend and I can get alot done in the afternoon.

I'd rather be sleeping too ... waited till 8:30 to get in contact with my coworkers via cell phones, and by that time I was wide awake.

I am officially moved in as of last night. The last box was unpacked and flattened, yay! Guess I should get moving and continue my reorganization extravaganza ... nothing else to do!

My friend's new home has water in the basement too.

at least i still have power...

the one disadvantage to working for yourself is that you never get days off. i work 7 days a week, 20 hour days...

to your apartment or somewhere else? I suppose I never completely moved in as I still ahve alot of things in boxes also but there also wasn't a need to unpack alot of it.

Yeah, that sux. I have some 24 hr days in mid winter once its cold(i do hvac) but its glorious in the summer(salary in summer, hourly in winter). No water for me(I live on the 3rd floor) just lots of flooded roads and trees to the north of me. Really was kinda hoping snow....gotta test out my rev xp 800.....maybe next month.

this rain is whack. Also I'm retarded and can never figure out if I need to put my defroster on hot or cold to defog the windows. Neither seem to work lol.

P.S. I immediately regret having amber LED fog light bulbs. They aren't kidding when they say LED bulbs are strictly for looks. Zero light output.

Those Nokya's you gave me along with yellow Lamin-X covers seem to do the trick for me.

You are so JDM you don't even know it. I'm happy with my sylvania cool blue highs in my low sockets, but they don't make them to match in 89x and since my fogs are always on i dont want to run silverstars that will burn out in a month :blackeye:

JDM FTW!!

Yeah, I'm done with Silverstars in my car. Too pricey for failing as quick as they do.

Baco, if waterproofing is in your future, look into B-Dry Systems. They did a fantastic job on our basement, including building a footing for us.

Here are a few pics I took venturing out to Carter's daycare today....he was the only one that made it....Matty, this is your neighborhood by the way:

Carter suggested we cross this...We made it but I won't be taking water crossing advise from an 8mo old any more:

We crept thru this mess twice.

Took two tries to thread this needle but we made it.

I got home later in the day and found that we took a hit too....big limb from the front oal damaged the siding and tried to take out the miny Christmas tree out front:

Ok, I recognize the first one easily. Although the water level is high, I've never seen that area flood like that!

Where are the other two? You can PM me if you want.
My parents have been without power/heat/water since midnight. Apparently the rest of the town is fine, it's just their street.

Cobra called me and said they have no power since about 1am either. That entire area is out. I live more inner city so I'm on a different grid (apparently on the edge of that grid, as there is no power a few blocks away). I stopped at Hannaford on Hanover St, less than a mile away, and they were running on generators.

Good call on the first pic!

The second one is Halfway up Davis Rd.

The third pic is where Dolan Rd turns into W.Millbury Rd.

Auburn lost power but we are in a section that feeds of Worcester so we have it. Your parent's area got obliterated...I haven't seen destruction like that in a long time. Millbury had barely any ice this morning but they are without power too. I know more people that have no power right now then people who do...Sue was saying she felt really guilty. I think my sister and her fiancee might move in for the weekend if they don't get power back tonight.
