I have the opportunity to pick up a Vortech kit for my Contour at a very fair price. The kit is for a 99 returnless style fuel system and my car has the return style. What I want to know is what pieces of this kit would be missing for my installation and the differences between the two.

Thanks

Turns out the kit was installed on a 99 Cougar but it was a return style car so its perfect for me.

The problem is its a early kit and the jackshaft spline is stripped. i know I can make a new piece or keyway it or something but its more work for me

Im getting the entire kit(missing NOTHING) for $800 CAD is that a good enough deal???

It's probably not worth it. As stated above it's about 2k to pick up the pin drive upgrade from vortech which is really the only way to go when fixing that issue.

You can buy one of the kits I sell for just a little more and you won't ever have that issue because ours doesn't use a shaft that can strip. Plus the supercharger will be new and you don't have to service it ($800+ through vortech) which you probably should do.

If its made for a returnless it might be the pin drive. check it out, then its a steal

Yeah I went and looked at it and decided against it. Im just going to go turbo, I have built plenty of turbo Neons and build engines on the side so making my own kit shouldnt be much trouble.

Thanks guys steering me away from it, sometimes I just get lazy and installing a pre-made kit is always easier then fabbing your one.

youl spend 2 grand upgrading it.

If all he is upgrading is the splines then no, your comment is WAY outta touch with reality. 200$ For a coupler ive been using for 2 years. However, i do have one new spacer but if you already have the spacer with this" entire kit " you do not have to worry about forking out the $$$ i spent for one.

Also, it is not rocket science to fix it. Run down to your local CNC shop, tell them what you want and if they dont screw you and make friends with them they'll throw ya a bone and work with you on pricing.

You have any pics?? I have 2 very good friends in the trade, both CNC machinists. I have many ideas of how to fix it in my head but without seeing specific pics of it or holding it in my hand I cant really figure out what I want to do. Any pics of where the jackshaft mates to the SC would be greatly appreciated.

This kit was purchased 3 years ago, ran for 3 months on a 99 cougar, the spline stripped and it was taken off. So it should be in good shape as far as wear and tear goes, just needs a fix on the coupler.

Thanks

if i find any ill post them. the new coucpler was put on while i was gone from home so no pix of it but the coupler and set up i do have pix of somewhere

Well, if the splines are already stripped, then it isn't quite as easy. However, like you said, it IS easy to upgrade the spline setup so it doesn't strip.

I need to get some pics of the jackshaft and SC spline so I can get an idea of what I could do. I asked the guy with the kit to take some for me, so hopefully he does.

I think he meant $2k to pay vortech for the pin drive not to pay a CNC shop to try and fix it. Although I thought even those people that tried to prevent the spline failures were hit or miss.

You guys are wrong about the upgrade with the pin drive. First off I just got mine bac in Dec. No machinist I know could even come close to copying it. Second the only part they reuse is your impeller and volute. All gears, the shaft and the back housing is all new when it comes back.
