So I have been thinking about this paint job I did my self and I'm thinking I did great for a first time painting my whole car but it's a 50 footer by far.. Surface isn't really smooth and it's not something I want to do again.. So I'm thinking about giving my car a nice wet sand to smooth the paint surface and then doing a matte black vinyl on the entire car.. Might have black gloss accents might not... Anyway it's removable and it's still out of my budget till about fall. Anyway question is... Anyone on here ever vinyl their entire CSVT? I can do this my self because I use to do vinyl on cars in the past for my previous employer... I found reasonably priced vinyl for 90.00 a roll that's 48x60 in. Im thinking for about 600 I could cover the entire car ... Anyone think other wise? And if someone has photo shop skills could you turn my car into matte black for me ? Here is the ride!

sorry im an idiot and did see your goin to do the whole car, vinyl is durable but would it tare if you caught some debris on the highway?

search for matte black svts here - pole120 has his and lots of pictures to look at.

it can be done. ever see a car that is wrapped to advertise something? there is a video on youtube of a mondeo getting wrapped in bright orange.

yeah i saw the Mondeo getting wrapped i actually commented negatively on it due to the price but I can and should be able to do it hopefully around 650.00 and that's what paid for my paint materials and equipment to paint my car... I am not advertising anything just not the best at painting, tried it didn't do terrible but don't think im gonna do it again. And don't wanna shell out 2500 for paint on my non show car but would still like to make it look good. Anyway i have been looking and this is something i have thought about buying.

59.99 a roll of 60x48 in shipped free. might find something less expensive down the road but we'll see..

If your good with vinyl give it a shot. It's been done many, many times on other cars. You may be the first Contour owner though. I vote yes, lets see it!

i say go for it

ive had 2 mk I vw's that i painted flat black. just seemed like everyone and their mother painted their cars "satin black" in the last few years. once i fix everything on my 2000 i might spray it flat black because there's a lot of dings and dents i need to fix as well as some body work. wouldn't mind seeing a vinyl concept like that.

yeah i did the vinyl on my old cars and really don't think that it would be a hard job, other than taking out the lights and taking apart the pre 98 trunk pieces and doing them individually... and this would give me the opportunity to fix a few dings, shave my door bumper's and really clean the car up, it's quite easy... its harder doing a graphic because of the exact placement.

Yeah it's great because if it sucks, just remove it lol... Try another color later.. Anyway I'm saving up money for a family members wedding in ElPaso in August 2011 so after that I'll order all the vinyl I need and start on it one piece at a time...wish me luck.. I will bring up this thread with pics and how to when I start.
